Inspiring Conversations with Milla Rosen of Elite Institute of Micropigmenataion

Today we’d like to introduce you to Milla Rosen.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Milla Rosen: A Trailblazer in the World of Micropigmentation

Milla Rosen is a pioneer, educator, and visionary in the field of permanent makeup and scalp micropigmentation. With over two decades of experience and a reputation for excellence, she has become one of the most respected figures in the industry — both in the United States and internationally.

A Bold Journey from Engineering to Beauty

Born in the USSR, Milla began her career in a completely different field. She earned a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and worked for 10 years in the technical world. But her lifelong passion for beauty and art eventually led her to pursue her true calling. Her career in the beauty industry began as a makeup artist with the prestigious Trish McEvoy brand. Soon after, she earned her esthetician license and developed a strong foundation in skincare.

With a natural talent for drawing and a keen eye for aesthetics, Milla took her first permanent makeup class nearly 20 years ago. This decision marked the beginning of a remarkable journey. Today, she is a Platinum Member of the American Academy of Micropigmentation (AAM) and a board-certified artist and educator, widely admired by clients and peers alike.

A Passion for Education and Innovation

Throughout her career, Milla has continuously sought to advance her skills. She has completed numerous certifications and regularly attends advanced masterclasses and trainings around the world. Her commitment to continuing education allows her to stay at the forefront of evolving micropigmentation techniques.

Milla is more than an expert — she is an inventor. Over the years, she has developed her own unique techniques and approaches to micropigmentation, helping to set new standards in the field. Her background in engineering contributes to her ability to create precise, natural-looking results, especially when designing eyebrows that complement a client’s unique bone structure.

Scalp Micropigmentation Pioneer

Milla’s contributions to scalp micropigmentation (SMP) are especially groundbreaking. She was the first female SMP artist in the United States, and the first professional to bring this transformative procedure to the state of Georgia. As the founder and head of Scalp Masters of Atlanta, she has performed thousands of SMP procedures and helped countless men and women regain confidence after hair loss.

Her work in SMP has earned her national recognition. Milla has been featured on CBS and Atlanta News First, highlighting her role as a leader and innovator in the beauty and aesthetics industry.

A Trusted Expert and Beloved Practitioner

With thousands of procedures performed, Milla’s skill, professionalism, and compassion shine through in every client interaction. Her appointments are known for being comfortable and relaxing, and her clients often leave feeling more like friends than customers. She specializes in a wide range of procedures, including permanent eyebrows, eyeliner, lips, scar camouflage, areola re-pigmentation, and scalp micropigmentation.

Milla’s artistry, technical precision, and heartfelt dedication to her craft have made her one of the most competent and trusted professionals in her field. Respected by clients and colleagues alike, she continues to shape the future of micropigmentation — one procedure at a time

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a journey filled with challenges and growth. When I started in permanent makeup over 20 years ago, the industry looked very different. There were very few educational opportunities, and hardly any schools offering structured training. I had to figure out a lot on my own, relying on self-education, practice, and persistence. That early experience taught me resilience and a deep commitment to mastering my craft.

Even today, I continue to invest in my education, learning from some of the best educators around the world. The beauty industry evolves constantly, and I believe staying current with the latest techniques, tools, and standards is essential—not just for my growth, but to provide the highest level of care and results for my clients.

One of the most meaningful parts of my journey has been helping shape the scalp micropigmentation industry. I was proud to be the first female artist to practice scalp micropigmentation in the U.S., and the first to perform density treatments for clients experiencing hair loss. It’s been incredibly rewarding to watch the industry grow and to see how this treatment has changed lives. I’ve been honored to be recognized for my work in several publications, including Atlanta News First and CBS News. Being part of this evolving field continues to fuel my passion for innovation and excellence.
