Inspiring Conversations with Mitesh Patel of Blue Sky Law

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mitesh Patel. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Blue Sky Law was created in 2020 by a group of dynamic business attorneys and counselors, led by firm Principal Mitesh Patel, as the legacy firm birthed from the winddown of its predecessor, Patel Burkhalter, LLC. Blue Sky Law is a firm focused solely on the needs of business owners. Knowing how to meet the needs of business owners was most easily accomplished first by hiring attorneys who were themselves in the same position as former business owners, and next, focusing the firm solely on the needs of this unique class of clients. The attorneys and other professionals within Blue Sky Law are able to efficiently and thoroughly address and meet the needs of its business-owner clients because the majority of Blue Sky Law attorneys have owned their own businesses. In addition to being former business owners, something that is quite unique in the legal industry among practicing attorneys, the Blue Sky Law attorneys and their clients have the confidence of knowing the Blue Sky Attorneys were among the top of their legal classes, were hired by the top law firms in the world, are specialists within their chosen fields and most have solid working experience outside of the legal industry.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The legal industry and the market as a whole is growing rapidly, and this growth is being fueled by the strength of the current economy and the volume of business sales, mergers and acquisitions taking place right now. While Blue Sky Law has added several new professionals in 2020 and 2021, the identification and acquisition of talent is one of the biggest challenges the firm is facing right now.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us many things, but one of the biggest lessons was that we should never give up on taking care of our people and each other. As a service business, we rely on our professionals to listen intently to the needs of our clients and to solve their problems. However, this problem-solving and solution-providing often occur with circumstances and situations that can be detrimental to the balance of our own families. During the pandemic, I saw our attorneys and professionals working tirelessly to support our clients, at all hours of the day, through some of the worst emotional situations those clients had ever faced as business owners. To make this even more challenging, our attorneys were providing these solutions selflessly, around the clock and in situations where frankly all of our people needed help, support and encouragement within their own lives. We found that by keeping close contact, listening and being emotionally supportive is something that we need as humans on a regular basis, and we have changed our business to better focus on these needs.
