Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Marie.
Hi Monique, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a Lead Planner and Designer for Beyond the Decor Planning & Events. I was born and raised in Tampa, Florida and relocated to Atlanta in 2011 for a better future for my family. I knew I wanted to start a Wedding Planning and Design business as my retirement business but didn’t think I would start it this early. The business launched in 2018 as I felt a sign from God that it was time to start the business, so I followed his guidance. I’m a certified project manager, so managing projects came easy to me. I started out by planning family and friend’s weddings/events to be 100% sure my heart would be in this business. My first big wedding was my own wedding in 2017. I planned and designed the entire wedding but learned from this experience as well. It was stressful being the bride and overseeing the details. Now I tell clients to let the experts make their day unforgettable so they can just enjoy being the bride and groom.
What is success? Success is defined by the beholder not society, so I was determined to create my own way in the industry. The road was not easy as there is a ton of competition here in the Atlanta Metro area. I invested in courses from some great mentors to ensure I take my business to the next level. The business is still just getting started and we have plenty of room to grow, but we are creating a memorable experience for every couple.
I absolutely love weddings and it gives me great pleasure to know that I can make every couple’s day special. We focus on planning every little detail to the day of execution.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road definitely hasn’t been easy. My biggest challenge in Atlanta is marketing and booking the right client. I also tell my clients that personalities is key when selecting your wedding planner. I want to make sure that our personalities match as we’re usually communicating for a full year during the planning process. No roadblock is a roadblock forever. It is a challenge that you have to find a solution to overcome. I’m still on the path of overcoming my challenges, but hiring professionals is getting me closer to my goals. In the business challenges will always come, but you have to be persistent and never allow those challenges to consume you or the business. Beyond the Decor is here to stay and looking to expand this year.

Beyond the Decor Planning & Events offer planning and design/decor services for weddings and events. We are expanding each day and adding on additional services to make process more seamless for our clients. We have recently added on custom dance floor wraps, drapery and photobooth. We specialize in full wedding planning and florals, plus design. We focus on turning our client’s vision into reality and delivering beyond their expectations. The brand of the business is focusing on providing excellent services and providing over the top decor to meet every clients’ expectations.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Passion and Persistence Passion is not something you can fake. You must have passion in what you do to deliver 200% to your clients. You have to truly feel that what you’re doing is necessary and/or deeply meaningful. The clients can feel the energy that you deliver.
Persistence is the key to any business as challenges come along and you want to give up. All businesses will experience some kind of failure, but being persistent and pushing forward is what will make my business successful.
