Today we’d like to introduce you to Myja (MJ) Wilson.
Hi Myja (MJ), so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Age 5 is when my love for the arts began. Born as Myja Rae’ b.k.a (MJ), she stepped into her calling as an entertainer. MJ was the lead “Munchkin” at the JVC Dance Company recital in her hometown Washington D.C. in year 1992. In 1994, she relocated with her immediate family to ATL, GA where she trained further in the ARTS.
Between the years 1999-2005 I studied Jazz, Hip-Hop, theatrical, acting, singing, video creations, studio sessions under the guidance of TASF a non-profit organization. After graduating out of the arts program I circled back to internship for a year.
2006 was the start of my professional career in the entertainment industry. I received my first big break as a professional background dancer for former Destiny Child’s member “LeToya Luckett”. I proceeded with doing videos, performing, and touring with more artists such as Sammie, Tiffany Evans, T.I., Kamillion, Mary J. Blige to name a few!
I stopped in 2009 as I became a Wife and Mother and decided to focus on my new found family. As some time passed I just wasn’t feeling as fulfilled as I’d like. 2014 is when I got back into the arts as the Choreographer for the Meadowcreek H.S. Auxiliary Team.
2018 I ventured out into my first entrepreneurial conquest by launching a (One Stop Shop) online boutique called Luckiee13.com and the boutique is still thriving to this day. This lead me to want to do more and see what other talents in possess. I created a YouTube channel called “MomentswithMJ”
I conducted interviews with fascinating people all over GA. Where they speak about their past accomplishments, future endeavors, current events, and everything in between. Doing these interviews and sharing my experiences with others lead me to work with independent artists as a creative consultant, host, choreographer, stylist, personal shopper, video direction, studio sessions, photoshoots, artist development, and MORE.
I am back working as a choreographer and coach at my Alumni High School Clarkston for the “Elegant Emeralds” This is such a joy to come back full circle as I was a co-captain on this team and to be able to give back in this magnitude is a blessing!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing is ever smooth but very well worth it. I have struggled financially at times to keep my house hold a float as well as my boutique. But with the faith of my God I can conquer all things.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
This boutique is a one stop shop which is not always easy to find. I am the CEO among other things I carry out. The store specializes in unique pieces that still offer quality. We set ourselves apart from other boutiques by offering more under one platform. I am proud that the store can uphold to standards while maintaining integrity! A lot of people are not great with shopping rather online or in person. L13 has the ability to offer personal shopping for online or in person assistance.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Defining success as a boutique owner should go beyond just sales numbers. We want meaningful, practical ways to
define success—both financially and personally—so your goals actually support the kind of business you want to run
1. Financial Success
2. Loyal, Happy Customers
A boutique thrives on relationships.
3. A Curated Brand That Feels Authentic
4. Work-Life Balance
5. Personal Fulfillment
6. Impact on Your Local Community
7. Growth That Matches Your Vision
Success doesn’t always mean scaling big.
