Inspiring Conversations with Mykel T. Brooks of Paperwork Music Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mykel T. Brooks.

Hi Mykel T., can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started music as a touring artist and recording engineer. I eventually transitioned to Producer and Music Industry Entrepreneur. I created Nomad Recordings – a recording suite in Tallahassee Florida, The Lab Rats Ink – a music production and songwriter team all across the United States. Most recently, I created Paperwork Music Group – an independent record label in Atlanta, GA. I currently have 4 producers 6 songwriters and an artist her name is Ama ‘ Ka’rin. She is an international recording artist.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business is tough. Making the music is easy. I solved most of my struggles like not having a studio or an engineer by learning Myself. The biggest challenge is making money in the industry. If you don’t get to the money quickly, you don’t last.

We’ve been impressed with Paperwork Music Group Inc., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a full-service independent record label. Specializing in Artist Development, Publishing and Marketing. We currently have an Artist on our roster with a very strong following her single just hit 3 million.

Her name is Ama ‘ Ka’rin(@TheOnlyAmakarin); she sings international R&B and pop music. I have a roster of producers and songwriters as well. My business partner and friends Felix Morton (Chris Brown, Jacquees) a multi-platinum songwriter. Noah and Kory which are Marketing ANIMALS. They have Checkmate Ent as their marketing company so we came together and created a label.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We are to focused on creating a wave of music they can’t be compared to the trend. We are going to sell out arenas and have the top artists in the world. Right now, the focus is to have as many hit records as possible
