Inspiring Conversations with Nick Hoisington of Realkit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Hoisington.

Hi Nick, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In high school, I always had ambitions to work in the film and television industry. The summer of my junior year I attended Interlochen Center for the Arts Film Production summer camp and was immediately hooked. I then attended and graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts with a degree in Film Producing. I was fortunate enough to get a summer internship on the Hunger Games. This was quite a monumental leap for me into making great connections for my future career in Film/TV. After graduation I moved to Wilmington, NC and worked on Iron Man 3, We’re the Millers, Eastbound and Down. Soon after there was somewhat of a revolution of people moving to Atlanta because word on the street was that Atlanta would soon be the Meca for Film production. Which, it soon was! I then worked for several years on very large blockbuster-type productions and then transition eventually worked on commercials.

I later chose to take my production skills to co-found my business Realkit with my brother, Daniel. Together, we created a business that works with realtors, at all levels, to bring top production values to an industry that is frequently plagued by flat images and low-quality video. All Realkit packages include drone footage and fly-through videos without surprise pricing.

We ensure high-quality products by working with top photographers and giving them the guidance and instructions necessary so that they secure the best possible shots using the most appealing angles and most flattering light.

I do miss working in film production time to time, but ultimately I’ve found my true passion in life, entrepreneurship! Running a business is what wakes me up in the morning and gets me excited for tomorrow!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Obstacles

– Film production was grueling, time-consuming, didn’t provide a path for happiness. Had to recognize this and found my path toward entrepreneurship.

– Starting a business is INSANELY hard. Then turning an idea into a reality that makes money is even harder! I’ve been fortunate enough to have amazing clients who have helped me grow over the years.

– Running a family business is also challenging. Ensuring a balance in the family/work/life balance is difficult.

We’ve been impressed with Realkit, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In 2017, my brother and I recognized that the Southeast lacked consistent and cost-effective real estate media that could compete on a national level. After thorough market research, we realized that the missing link was Realkit, a company that could provide high-quality media and create lasting business relationships.

Our mission has been to bring together top photographers, videographers, and editors within a seamless system to strategically execute a solid media program for their clients. The focus was not only on developing a team of skilled and experienced professionals but also on finding friendly, kind, and dedicated team members. We wanted to build a great team to be around and who anyone would feel comfortable inviting into their home. Collectively, Daniel and I wear many hats for Realkit and we work together to create systems that can handle national expansion.
