Today we’d like to introduce you to Qamara Girard.

Hi Qamara, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The idea of my business originally started in 2020, when I began my hair loss journey. I was taking out my jumbo braids in college and noticed that one of the braids by my edges was completely gone, no active hair follicles. I tried a lot of the popular brands that stated they could help with hair growth, but nothing worked. So I reverted to what I love,
“natural remedies,” I did my research for the best natural oils and finally created a formula that worked for my scalp.
After seeing results from being consistent, I started dreaming about my business and getting signs to help others. I brought the idea to my parents, and they said I needed to get others to sample the product. I eventually got my friends and family, and complete strangers, to try the product for themselves. When they started seeing results as I did, I knew it was time to get my business plan together and hit the ground running. Months of savings and getting my business registered, I launched my business. As of today, I am still trying to get my business out there. I am still a one-woman show until the day that everyone knows who and what Zaafira’s Touch LLC is.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any big dream, you are going to have your hook-up. I originally started in March 2023. By October 2023, I lost motivation, I lost my drive, and funding got low. So, I put a pause on this dream, but God kept reminding me to wake up and get back to work. So I started it back up with a push from my fiancé and my family. The road is still rocky, algorithms have changed, the market has changed, and I have changed. A lot has changed, but this time around, I am determined to get my business out there.

Zaafira’s Touch LLC is more than a hair care brand — it’s a healing story turned into a mission. I started this business during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life, when I began losing my hair and, with it, pieces of my confidence. Every product I tried seemed to make things worse. It felt like the beauty industry wasn’t created with people like me in mind — people with textured hair, sensitive scalps, and a need for products that truly nourish, not damage.
In that moment of frustration, fear, and hope, I decided to take my power back. I turned to natural ingredients, research, trial and error, and a lot of prayer. What I created for myself slowly became something bigger — something that could help others reclaim their confidence, too.
That’s how Zaafira’s Touch was born.
Today, we specialize in natural, clean, and intentional hair care products, with our signature Hair Crack Oil leading the way. If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
My upbringing is not like most. I grew up in a big family of 8 people, including my two parents, who have been married for 33 years. I am originally from Albany, Ga, born and raised Muslim as a member of the Nation of Islam. My early years were great; we had a beautiful home, raised by my stay-at-home mother, Cecelia Girard, and my self-employed father, Marcus Girard, as a motivational speaker. Then the recession hit, and it seemed like everything changed overnight. Our once comfortable life turned into instant struggles. The family had to downsize our lifestyle, resulting in us moving to Clayton County, where we spent the rest of our childhood in a 3-bedroom 2-bathroom home. At the early age of 9 years old, I started hustling, aka selling motivational products to help pay the bills and put food on the table alongside my 5 other siblings. We sold buttons, newspapers, motivational CDs, DVDs, and event tickets. We would go all around the state of Georgia, and even went to Florida, Alabama, Chicago, Detroit, etc., just to make ends meet. I continued to do this until I was 16 years old, when I finally got a real job. All I know is how to hustle, been doing this almost my entire life. But I thank God for all of it, because I wouldn’t be the woman and striving businesswoman I am today. Life was tough, we were down on our luck, but the struggles and hustle helped keep my family and me close, even to this day.
