Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Crowe.
Hi Rebecca, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I battled with cystic acne as a teen and it really took a toll on my self-esteem. Through my journey of improving my skin, I developed an interest in skincare, but never imagined that I would ever have a career in Aesthetics.
After graduating from UGA, I was a radio DJ for a decade in Atlanta and surrounding areas. The radio business is quite volatile and I was ready for a change. I couldn’t ignore my love of skincare and the beauty industry so I enrolled in the Aesthetics program at the highly accredited Atlanta Institute of Aesthetics.
After graduating, I was hired by a plastic surgeons’ group as a Medical Aesthetician, then moved on to a dermatology practice where I worked for over 13 years. I refined my approach of providing results-oriented medical-grade treatments combined with relaxation and pampering. I developed a large a following of loyal clients and decided it was time to open my own business. That was when Fresh Faces by Rebecca was born! I have been in business for almost three years and have grown my solo practice to a thriving as well as personally and financially rewarding business. I also teach business development courses to individual Aestheticians trying to grow their own practice. I am so grateful to my clients and look forward to treating my clients every single day!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The first year in business was shall we will call it…CHALLENGING!
COVID-19 hit just 2 WEEKS after the doors to my brand-new business opened. I was forced to close my doors for two months. Instead of freaking out (which was my first inclination), I stayed laser-focused. I worked hard (I even hand-delivered product orders as there was NO one on the roads at all)! My business was quite successful throughout the pandemic thanks to my long-time clients for supporting me for the past 17+ years!
Another challenge in business was learning all of the ins-and-outs of the running a business. There are SO many bits and pieces that go into keeping a business running smoothly – it will honestly make your head spin! There were also things like paying sales tax (cringe), dealing with the business income tax, and the bookkeeping chores that I had to learn. I am still learning!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Fresh Faces by Rebecca?
I specialize in medical-grade results-oriented skin treatments combined with pampering and relaxation. I am known for my signature Plane/Peel/Perfect treatment which combines dermaplane, hydrodermabrasion, extractions, and chemical peel for amazing, healthy, clean, and glowy skin. I include relaxing aromatherapy, hot towels, sculpting facial massage, shoulder and neck massage, and cryotherapy in my treatments. I pride myself on delivering amazing results while maintaining superior customer service for my clientele. I also research and carry only the BEST of the best medical grade products for home care (which by the way is 80% of winning the skin care battle).
What sets me apart? Not many Aestheticians combine results-oriented medical grade treatments with the “fru fru” pampering and relaxation of a spa facial experience. I blend both approaches to really elevate the experience. Customer service is extremely important to me, so I check in with every client the day after their treatment and again weeks after just to stay in touch. It’s funny, sometimes I think I care more about the outcome of clients’ skin than they do! LOL, I’m just so passionate about it! It really makes my day when a client says, “I was at a girls’ dinner and all the girls were RAVING about my skin. They ALL want to come see you for a treatment now! How long is your waitlist?” My clients send me so many referrals for which I’m extremely grateful.
How do you think about luck?
Honestly, I don’t really believe in pure “luck” when it comes to business. I believe that luck is when preparation meets opportunity. I have always just concentrated on doing the right things, working really hard, and having integrity in all that I do. Of course, the wellbeing and satisfaction of each client is my top priority. I have found when I concentrate on these key elements everything has a way of working out for the best for everyone.
