Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Smith
Hi Robert, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started working in my families restaurants when I was 13 years old washing dishes, busing tables, peeling carrots, and potatoes. For 10 years, I worked in different hotels, restaurants, country clubs, and finally in 1997. I started working as a private chef. I’ve been private chef for Terry Hatcher, Halle Berry, Dwayne Johnson, Emily, Blunt, John Krasinski, Seymour, Hoffman, David, Gaffin, Derek Jeter, Reggie Jackson and many others. I’ve also catered 45 movies about 60 television shows and 150 to 200 television commercials. Now I predominantly work as a private chef and do small event, catering dinner, parties, and homes for entrepreneurs’s doctors, athletes, and musicians. I’m the Chef /Owner of Culinary Collective Atl
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, all businesses have their struggles. A lot of our clients are visiting here while making movies or TV shows so they’re only here for a short amount of time so when I private Chef, I’m constantly looking for new customers. Of course, during the pandemic that hit a super hard, we were closer about 18 months. I’m not visiting any clients homes, but things are starting to bounce back. We’re building a strong brand and it should be smooth sailing.
We’ve been impressed with The Culinary Collective Atl, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We have a private chef service and we do small event catering usually dinner parties under 15 people in clients homes Airbnb or vacation rentals. All of our food is made fresh it’s organic leans towards the healthier side. When I most proud about our brand is our amount of repeat customers and the word-of-mouth I would say 90% of our customers have been recommended from a prior Custom and we’re very proud of that. And actually for almost 20 years, we didn’t even have a website for our private chef Services. It was all just somebody telling somebody.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Atlanta is a vibrant and amazing city. I love there’s hundreds of different kinds of cuisines that I can go out and find when I’m in the mood to experiment and learn something about a different cuisine what I like the least and I think what everybody likes the least is the traffic.
