Inspiring Conversations with Sarah Monroe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Monroe.

Hi Sarah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Have you ever purchased a digital product and/or course and immediately regretted it? Unfortunately, I have too, but after taking one too many courses that overpromised and underdelivered – it was time for me to be the gap between what my potential clients wanted to offer and helping them actually offer that plus more. My entrepreneurial journey started when I was in a Specialty Center called The Center for Communications at Varina High School in Richmond, VA. From 2010 to 2013, I learned how to design using the Adobe Suite, how to be comfortable on camera, how to edit, and so much more! At the time, it was just a way out of private school, but it really opened my eyes to new ways that I could share my creativity.

From 2015-2017, while I was in college, I started using the skills I had learned to launch my first business called My CEO Lifestyle. I sold apparel and CEO essentials – which was my first shot at running an e-commerce business. It went very well, and I was so excited!

After graduating from college, I realized that my favorite part of owning that business was helping other business owners. So I took the skills I had learned through high school school, college, my corporate job, and my experiences, and decided to serve business owners through my service offerings.

Now I’m a Course & Curriculum Strategist that helps my clients get tremendous results. I do this by combining my corporate training experience, psychology degree, and 10+ years of design experience to create transformative courses and online programs for my clients. My agency, Impactful Courses Co., helps established business owners and content creators turn their expertise into a profitable and scalable course. As a result, my clients consistently have more impact and income while being less stressed and saving time and I absolutely love being in my zone of genius.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ll be the first to say that my entrepreneurial journey to where I am hasn’t been easy, but if I had to sum up my business journey in one word – it would be a pivot.

I’ve always had the goal of helping business owners and content creators scale their businesses. However, over the years, I have chosen to pivot into different areas of my expertise to ensure I am always happy and fulfilled by the results I get for my clients.

Pivoting is against the grain, AND IT’S HARD, but it’s been the decision that has always brought me more impact and income year over year. I’ve learned that it’s okay to pivot, even if what you’re doing is bringing you in money.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is seeing my mom run multiple businesses. This was key for me because it gave me the ability to have an inside look on what a boss woman looked like. I admire my mom in more ways that one, and am so grateful that I have memories of my mom serving her clients and her family. I say this because I now know that I don’t have to choose my business over my family in order to maintain/grow the success that I have.
