Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelly Taggar.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My background is in photography, which is what I went to school for, but I started producing events 21 years ago by pure luck. I started The Makeup Show 18 years ago, grew it slowly and it became a solo venture. This event is not just a trade show but an experience to make people feel a part of the full community. It has five stages of makeup demos, classes, celebrity makeup artists on stage, and some special events.

There were no makeup-only events when TMS started, just hair shows, and I wondered why there was nothing for the makeup side of beauty. And decided to start a show in NY. The first show was very successful in 2006, and TMS became a big thing in NYC and continued nationwide from there.

We decided to come to Atlanta and host an event because it’s such an amazing area of the beauty industry and film. And I have a passion for this show and the community it brings together; we are all about the attendees and want to make sure the experience we bring is worthwhile for all the attendees.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was hard to start an event, and make a name for ourselves, and let artists know we were here to support them and bring an event specially for them, but slowly mostly from word of mouth the event grew, and when social media changed the game, we started promoting and finding more ways to promote and let people know about this beauty experience, The Makeup Show.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Makeup Show?
This event is not just a trade show but an experience to make people feel a part of the full community. It has five stages of makeup demos, classes, celebrity makeup artists on stage, and some special events.

We are known for being the number 1 trade and beauty event in the industry for makeup artists, influencers, and people that want to be part of the beauty industry.

Our show is all about building this community and as such we offer so much education in makeup and art but also in the business side of beauty, and you get to shop all the amazing brands at pro discounts that are 20%-50%.

I am proud that in 18 years, we have grown the show to so many cities and that we survived COVID by providing what we could virtually and supporting artist during a hard year in their life.

The Makeup Show Atlanta will be an amazing event, with so much makeup, hair, and community, all celebrating the beauty world. It is the first time in Atlanta in seven years so we are so happy to be back, and hope Atlanta will show us love.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a creative child, always wanted to create and build things, and loved to paint and take pictures anytime I could. I knew I was going to be in the creative world, and I chose to study fine art and photography.

I also loved reading and would read two books a week growing up. Nowadays, I have less time for that, but I still love a good book.
