Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheree Love.
Hi Sheree, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into health and wellness began with myself. Years ago, I experienced firsthand the power of creating a well-rounded wellness routine and how movement, mindset, and consistency could transform not just the body, but the entire way you show up in life. That personal experience sparked a deep curiosity about the human body and a desire to understand how people heal, adapt, and thrive—especially in the face of physical challenges. That curiosity is what led me to pursue a career as an Exercise Physiologist.
I started my professional path in clinical rehabilitation, working hands-on with individuals living with spinal cord injuries (SCI) and acquired and traumatic brain injuries (ABI/TBI). In those settings, I saw how intentional movement, education, and encouragement could restore confidence and improve quality of life. That experience grounded me in the importance of meeting people where they are—functionally, emotionally, and culturally.
Over time, my work led me to specialize in supporting people living with Multiple Sclerosis. I began to notice a major gap in care for Black and historically underserved communities—limited access, lack of representation, and barriers like transportation, cost, and functional limitations. That’s what inspired me to create Shades of MS—first as a local community space and now as a global digital platform.
Today, Shades of MS is a free, accessible digital hub where members can connect, learn, and move together through live and on-demand wellness programming, education, and community support. Going digital has allowed me to reach people worldwide and remove many of the barriers that prevent individuals from getting consistent care. For those who want deeper, personalized support, I also offer the Powerhouse Performance Program—a minimum 90-day, assessment-based wellness experience for individuals ready to commit to tailored coaching and long-term change.
At the heart of everything I do is a love for Black health and a belief that wellness should be inclusive, culturally responsive, and accessible to everyone. Alongside the digital platform, we also host local social, educational, and fun community events so people can build real-life connections too. My mission remains constant: to help people living with MS find their strength, their voice, and their power through health and wellness.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I first fell in love with health and wellness, I had no idea it would lead me here. I started out simply wanting to understand the human body and help people heal, not realizing that one day I’d be building a global community and digital platform.
One of the biggest challenges was making the decision to step away from a traditional clinical setting. It was stable, structured, and familiar—but I began to feel called to reach the people who weren’t walking into clinics or gyms. I wanted to serve those who truly needed access to culturally responsive care, support, and community. Leaving that environment to build something from the ground up was both scary and uncertain.
Being based in Atlanta has been a blessing. It’s a very pro-Black city with strong opportunities for connection and collaboration, and that helped Shades of MS grow locally. But I also realized that not everyone has access to spaces like that. People living with MS in other parts of the world don’t always have the same support, representation, or resources.
So the struggle became figuring out how to take what we were building face-to-face and expand it beyond geographic limits. Learning how to create and scale a digital platform, build trust online, and stay financially sustainable while offering a free community space was not easy. But every challenge pushed me to innovate and stay rooted in my purpose—to make wellness accessible, inclusive, and impactful far beyond the walls of a clinic or a single city.
We’ve been impressed with Shades of MS, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Shades of MS is a global wellness and support community created specifically for people of color living with Multiple Sclerosis. We exist at the intersection of movement, education, culture, and connection. What started as a local support and workout group has grown into a comprehensive digital platform that offers free access to live and on-demand wellness programming, educational sessions, and a safe, affirming space for people to be seen, heard, and supported.
What sets Shades of MS apart is our culturally responsive, trust-centered approach and our commitment to accessibility. We partner with local and national organizations like the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, as well as Board-Certified Neurologists, clinicians, and physicians, to ensure our community has access to credible, high-quality care and information. I also serve as a keynote speaker and panelist, using my voice to advocate for equity, representation, and better outcomes in the Black MS community.
The name Shades of MS holds deep meaning. “Shades” represents the many beautiful hues of our skin and the diversity within the Black community. At the same time, shade also means covering and protection. I wanted the name to reflect that this is a space where people are both seen and sheltered—a place of safety, dignity, and care. We often say, “See you in the shade,” because everything we do is rooted in creating a community where people can show up fully and feel supported.
Another key part of our work is education. We provide members with resources to connect with providers who look like them and understand their lived experience, helping to dispel medical mistrust. We also share clinical research information so Black communities understand the importance of participating in research and how that participation helps shape better, more inclusive treatments.
For readers, I want them to know that Shades of MS is more than a program—it’s a movement. If someone is looking for culturally grounded wellness, credible education, and a space where their whole self is welcomed, this is it. And for those ready for deeper transformation, we also offer the Powerhouse Performance Program, a 90-day personalized wellness experience for individuals committed to tailored coaching and long-term growth.
What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, my vision is to continue expanding Shades of MS as a global, culturally responsive wellness ecosystem for people of color living with MS. I’m focused on growing the digital platform with more on-demand content, education, and community features so members around the world can access support whenever and wherever they need it.
I’m especially excited about my role as a new member of the African American Advisory Council for the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA), where I can help shape national conversations around equity, representation, and outcomes for the Black MS community. I’m also honored to be the keynote speaker for the 2026 National MS Society Black Experience, where I’ll be speaking on Resilience—a topic that deeply reflects the strength and spirit of our community.
In addition, I have several upcoming speaking and panel engagements, and long-term I plan to take this work around the world. I see advocacy, education, and storytelling as powerful tools for change, and I’m committed to using my voice to elevate Black health on global stages.
At the heart of everything I do is advocacy for Black health. It’s not a side mission—it’s the foundation. I will stop at nothing to bring awareness, shift narratives, and ensure our communities are seen, heard, and supported in every space where health and wellness are discussed.
Ultimately, the future is about reach, impact, and sustainability—growing this work while staying rooted in purpose, community, and care.
