Louis Lloyd was founded in 2021 by Stephen Louis Oakey and Gavin Lloyd Pack, two friends who have been golfing together since their college days. While shopping for products for their own game, they noticed a lack of gear that’s modern and laid-back, yet not rebellious. After working together for different companies, the pair decided to combine their expertise, Gavin’s in strategy, sourcing, and manufacturing, and Stephen’s in advertising, marketing, and creative direction, to create excellent products with the right vibes for the sport they love.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One challenge we’ve noticed is that in order to ensure that our products are top quality, we’re slowly bringing our products to market. When we decide to offer a new product, we’re not just grabbing a random piece from a catalog, we’re doing extensive product development and testing. While this process results in a slower time to market, it guarantees us the high-quality we’re proud of.

Louis Lloyd isn’t over complicated – we’re simply making top-quality products at a very competitive price. We want to be around for decades, so we’re not trying to rush to success; our customer and product research ensures that we bring the best quality to our customers. Our vision is to facilitate retail sales with branded Louis Lloyd products, along with a business-to-business aspect selling premium, white-labeled products to clubs and organizations featuring their logos and our Louis Lloyd tag. Although we’re targeting golf clubs first, we’re also excited to partner with other companies to supply their branded apparel.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One lesson we’ve learned is that whether you’re working for a billion-dollar company or a fledgling company, the hurdles are the same. Pricing, inbound freight weights, you’re dealing with the same problems; our experience in the field gives us transferable know-how.
