Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Jones.
Hi Tammy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It wasn’t until 2007 when I was a House Manager/Chef, and House keeper for Dr. Schapiro. She had three kids that I cared for and cooked for. Although Dr. Schapiro was a doctor, she would send me to whole food stores to purchase teas for her kids. I never recalled her ever sending me to a pharmacy to fulfill a prescription, when her kids would take on the normal immune illnesses. At that time, I remembered my roots and a light bulb went off. I knew it was something I wanted to do, but I didn’t know how, and I shared my idea with family members whom then discouraged me. They advised that there were plenty of tea shops and remedies already created, so I backed off for a bit. And although I grew up with some homemade remedies, such as the benefits of castor oil, apple cider, and a few other herbs, I also secretly watched my mom lean into the spiritual path, which is what I favored most of all, which re-introduced me to the love of herbs. I was designing healing candles which required certain herbs and crystals. This re-highlighted the herbs, and it reconnected me with the herbs in a more vibrant and exploring way. I became obsessed. I wanted to know and learn about every herb, as they do offer mental and physical healing. It became very fascinating, and I became my first patient.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Let’s be clear, I have yet to stop working a normal 9-5 job. However for me it was easy once I made my mind up. I did waste a lot of money in the process, starting a spiritual boutique first. I do have a gift for healing people spiritually, however, I felt guilty dabbling into GOD’s pathway. Don’t get me wrong, I loved helping the lost and confused, and people just needing logical answers. The problem with that was, they became reliant on me, and leaned on me more than our Father above. Once I became convicted, it seems that I was sent back to my original desire, and that was to make teas that can possibly naturally heal any and all aliments. While I still do sometimes counsel, I just no longer take on clients that ask for love, riches, jobs, cars and houses. Those are things that we all can achieve easily with discipline and patience. I now lean more into helping others to heal within themselves. People have patterns that are repeated unbeknownst to them. I do my best to help them to recognize that, and help to find ways to encourage them to take on a more eye-opened-approach. I am no longer upside down with my business, and I am in a pretty happy financial place, but there is always more room for growth.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Tammy Jones Botanica, is an Herbal Tea Shop is designated to those who have a passion and experience with herbs; as I sell individual herbs, and blended concoctions for those that just want something already blended. My niche was first for the heart health, which led to hypertension, cholesterol, diabetes herbal blends that first worked for me. I was always my first client. What sets me apart from most is that it is a self-help herbal shop. It is well rounded. Those that like top make their own blends are able to purchase individual herbs to fulfill their own at home self-apothecary, and we also cater to those that feel more comfortable in already pre-made herbal blends. Not only that we do offer customization, and we do our best to carry herbs that are not always the obvious, such as ST Johns Bush, Guinea Hen Weed, just to name two, not a few. Lol. We ethically source our herbs from a company, which test the soil each year for pesticides, to insure that it is authentic and organic. One of the things, that makes us stand out, is that we make custom blends by request, and we are willing to source hard to find herbs to carry at our location. We love the challenge of finding hard to find herbs.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
