Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanya Lacourse
Hi Tanya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story is long and meandering. I have always been drawn to the arts and knew I wanted to do something creative or creative adjacent so I studied fine arts administration in college and worked in art galleries to start my career. My interest in photography bloomed and I started a photo business which led to shooting interiors, which led to wanting to design interiors. When I moved to Atlanta 10 years ago, I realized everyone had an interior designer so I quit my corporate job and began assisting a designer. I was jumping out of bed with excitement every day doing this job and for the first time ever, felt like I had found my calling. I went back to school to study interior design and then started my own business and the rest is history.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’m not sure if it’s ever a smooth road. I tend to jump into things and learn as much as I can while I am in mid air. It’s good to be naive in a way but there is also so much to understand and learn. You need time to build a portfolio, to get clients to trust you, to build expertise and to build relationships. The only way to get there is through. Expect some bumps.
As you know, we’re big fans of Violer Marsh Interiors. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Violet Marsh Interiors is led by Tanya Lacourse, an award winning interior designer specializing in residential and commercial spaces. Tanya strives to create environments that are fresh, functional and impeccably finished.
Function sits at the forefront of our design process, with the priority on creating a space that looks good and works for you. From meticulous sourcing to strategic placement and finishing touches, every detail contributes to the harmony of the functional and aesthetic aspect of a room.
Interior design is about so much more than making a room look pretty with flooring, paint, and that one great piece of furniture. There are layers, and every layer serves a purpose — whether it’s aesthetic, functional, or sentimental. And because we design based on our clien’t’s preferences, it lasts longer than any trend.
Our design aesthetic is collected and authentic, and expands with each new story we’re entrusted to tell.
