Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Warren.
Taylor, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up, I was always a helper and curious about why people think and behave in the ways that they do. My dad passed away when I was 13, and seeing how each member of my family grieved in their own way and had a very different set of needs intrigued me. As the oldest child, it was important to me to figure out how to best support each person during that difficult season.
I went to UGA for a degree in Psychology and ultimately decided to pursue my Master’s and Education Specialist in School Counseling. For seven years, I worked as a school counselor at McKendree Elementary School in Gwinnett County. The school will always have such a special place in my heart. It was incredibly rewarding being a safe and supportive adult for young students while they were working to understand their emotions, get along with others, and discover their many strengths. My work with students, parents, families, and teachers truly shaped me into the counselor I am today!
Along the way, I realized a desire in my heart to spend more time on the social and emotional needs of my students. I wanted to go deeper into their mental health and see the challenges through. I decided to work toward my license while working as a school counselor. In 2022, I launched my private practice, The Grove Counseling & Consulting. I chose the name “The Grove” because it so beautifully represents what I strive to provide for each of my clients- a space where girls and women can find shade and rest in a world that demands so much of them. At The Grove, I specialize in supporting teen girls and women in the areas of anxiety, self-worth, perfectionism, and eating disorders.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Learning how to start/run a business was definitely a challenge! I am so thankful for the mentors ahead of me who encouraged me and answered my many questions along the way. I could not have taken the risk of starting a business without the support of my husband. His confidence in me and willingness to support my dreams in every way made this process significantly less challenging than it would’ve been. I am so grateful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Grove Counseling & Consulting is a virtual and in-person (Johns Creek, GA) therapy private practice. I provide virtual counseling for people in the states of Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina. The focus of my work is helping teen girls and women build a solid foundation of confidence, discover their self-worth, and claim freedom from anxiety and eating disorders. The modalities I use in my work are: EMDR, IFS, CBT, DBT, and Narrative therapy. I offer workshops for schools and businesses, as well as individual therapy. I also enjoy and value working closely with my clients’ parents/families when appropriate.
I am thankful to have been voted Best of Georgia in 2024 and 2025! The fact that so many of my clients refer their friends, colleagues, and loved ones means the world to me. It is such an honor to walk alongside people as they heal, learn, and grow. I never take for granted the fact that people trust me with their stories- It is such a privilege to know them be invited on their journeys.
My style is caring and warm, while also direct. It’s always my goal to make my clients comfortable to be fully themselves in therapy- maybe even laugh throughout the process! I am truly in awe of my clients’ wisdom, resilience, and openness on a daily basis. I am passionate about empowering my clients with tools to better their lives in the ways that make sense for them. I meet people where they are, and I want my office to also feel like your office during our sessions. Whether you choose to sit on the floor instead of the furniture, play with fidgets, wrap up in a blanket, or take your shoes off!
It is my calling to see the good that is already people and help them see it within themselves. I love helping my clients be kinder to themselves, gain self-awareness, and find joy, purpose, and strength within their lives.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the diversity of our city. I believe our differences make us stronger together! I also love the empathy and kindness within our city. We can come together to stand up for what is right and help one another.
What I like least is the traffic! Driving in the city is not for the faint of heart (haha).
