Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
With a career in the banking industry that spans over two decades, I’ve cultivated extensive experience and expertise since 2002. Originally from Richmond, Virginia, I relocated to Atlanta in 2006, where I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of financial institutions, including banks, credit unions, and mortgage brokerages. My journey has provided me with invaluable insights into the financial landscape, allowing me to develop a deep understanding of the needs of both clients and the industry.
In January 2025, I took a significant step forward by founding M+G Mortgage Solutions, a Black female-owned mortgage brokerage. This venture is not just a business—it’s a testament to my commitment to empowering underrepresented communities while providing exceptional service and personalized mortgage solutions.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Navigating the banking and mortgage industries as a Black woman in a predominantly white, male-dominated field has come with its share of challenges. Early in my career, I often had to prove my worth, facing biases and stereotypes that led to my ideas being overlooked or dismissed. The expectations were higher, and the room for error smaller.
However, these challenges have fueled my resilience and determination to not only succeed but also pave the way for others. Starting M+G Mortgage Solutions is my way of challenging the status quo and creating space for more diversity in the industry. While the journey hasn’t been easy, the opportunity to inspire future generations of Black women and build a more inclusive financial landscape makes it all worthwhile.
