Today, we’d like to introduce you to Tierra Thomas.
Hi Tierra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Since I was a young girl, I was fascinated with television and how the images I loved to watch were produced. I remember my parents had a digital camera that I loved to play with and take pictures and videos.
I discovered my passion for video production in the 5th grade when I joined my school’s news team. Instructional Television in Polk County gave me the tools to develop my skills and learn about digital creation. From the 5th grade to my senior year in high school I created countless videos: news shows, music videos, short films, documentaries, and more.
Overall, I carried these skills with me when I attended UCLA. I started posting videos documenting my experience on campus regularly on my YouTube channel, TNT Creations. During my time as in undergrad, I continued to hone my skills, providing photography, videography, and digital creation services. I had gigs every quarter to photograph senior pictures, staff photos, or family photos. I worked at UCLA Anderson School of Management filming and editing lectures for their online education.
During this time, I also had an internship with UCLA Athletics where I had the opportunity to interview student athletes and coaches, as well as work on fun digital projects for social media during game days. During this time I also had a second internship as a social media manager for the #MotivationForBlackPeople brand and podcast where I posted daily on the @motivationforblackpeople Instagram.
After graduating from UCLA as a Communication Studies and African American Studies double major, I continued to work on freelance gigs for social media, videography, photography, and a variety of digital creation projects such as websites, logo designs, and graduation announcements.
In January 2020, I launched TNT Creations & Services, providing social media management, videography, photography, digital design, and other creative services. Since then I have worked with 50+ clients and brands. Overall being a business owner has been rewarding these past four years. I feel incredibly blessed and am so excited to see all the things TNT Creations & Services will continue to achieve.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not been smooth, however, I am still extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a young business owner. A lot of stuff was trial and error at the beginning such as learning how to create contracts. There were frustrating moments when clients were late on payments, or overall just learning how to properly run a business and establish yourself as a creative professional.
Sometimes it seems like people can undervalue or underestimate the time and energy that goes into the creative process. However, I am running my business the best way I can and am thankful for all the learning experiences.

What makes you happy?
Enjoying a hike or sitting in the park and thinking to myself how vast life is and how God took the time to create all of this. I enjoy reading, riding rollercoasters, traveling, dancing, eating, and creating art. I love to appreciate the thrills and beauty of life while taking in gratitude for all the things I’ve done in this life.
Spending time with my family and friends makes me happy. I love to laugh with my loved ones and enjoy each other’s company, cracking jokes, playing games, or sharing stories. Looking at old pictures and videos makes me happy.
I love to bask in nostalgia and laugh at how cringe I used to be, yet so carefree and ambitious to accomplish my goals. I love to reflect on how far I’ve come and how my younger self with be so proud of where I am today.
