Inspiring Conversations with Tietra Jones of Atlanta Childbirth Resources, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tietra Jones

Hi Tietra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey to becoming an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) has been long and filled with twists and turns. It all started in 2005 when I became a Registered Nurse. Despite all the recommendations from my professors to take a different path, I chose to dive straight into Mother/Baby care and never looked back. I spent most of my nursing career working as a Postpartum Nurse, which felt like the perfect fit for me. I’ve always been passionate about pregnancy, childbirth, lactation, and teaching.
In my experience, new parents are incredibly eager to learn when they welcome a baby. They are naturally curious, and it brings me so much joy to answer their questions and reassure them, especially during those sleep-deprived, emotionally challenging moments. It’s a privilege to remind them that, despite the adjustment to their new responsibilities, they’re doing a great job.
I truly believe my background as a Postpartum Nurse, combined with my love for teaching and nurturing new families, is what led me to this path. While I’ve been teaching breastfeeding in various capacities for 20 years, I officially took the leap to become an IBCLC three years ago — and I absolutely love it! Sometimes I wonder why it took me so long to get here, but then I remember that God’s timing is always perfect.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wouldn’t describe my journey as either smooth or rough – it’s simply been my path. Along the way, I’ve learned invaluable lessons, and each experience has uniquely shaped me into the person I am today. My background as a Postpartum Nurse, Hospice Nurse, Childbirth Educator, CPR Instructor, as well as my experiences as a wife and mother, have all contributed to the Tietra you see now. I bring all of these experiences with me as I serve the families I work with.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Atlanta Childbirth Resources, LLC?
I am the proud owner of Atlanta Childbirth Resources, a company I founded in 2008. At the time, I didn’t know exactly what the company would become, but I knew I wanted to work with new and expectant families in various capacities. Today, we offer a range of services, including childbirth education, prenatal breastfeeding classes, newborn care classes, CPR training, and lactation support.
While we continue to offer a broad array of services, our focus has evolved to prioritize prenatal breastfeeding classes, lactation support, and CPR training.
