Inspiring Conversations with Wil Fletcher of One Breath CNA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wil Fletcher.

Hi Wil, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I took a CNA class back in 2005. I didn’t want to be a cna, I only took the class because of that paid training.

I excelled in the class because I’m competitive. The Instructor got the wrong idea. She thought I loved it because of my test scores and performance.

I grew to like it and decided to accept a job at the facility where I received the training. I wasn’t good at all, my heart wasn’t in it. I got better as time went on.

At this particular facility every cna was black and every nurse was white. On top of the divide between nurse and cna there was a strong racial undertone.

I felt like the nurses were not better than me, and as crazy as it sounds that motivated me to become a nurse.

I won’t go into every single detail but in 2008, I became an LPN. I worked in several different settings before I found out that as an LPN in GA that I could teach the CNA program.

I taught for five different programs before I opened my very own Nurse Aide Training Program. We just celebrated our five years anniversary 2/22.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Smooth road? Struggles? There was no road at all and struggle would be an upgrade. I had so many difficulties. I was an awesome CNA Instructor probably the best in the entire state based on number of students that were certified under my teaching. I had no idea of how to run a business.

My journey has been rocky at best. It’s been expensive and overwhelming.

We’ve been impressed with One Breath CNA, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We offer a five weeks Nurse Aide Training program that allows students to sit for the state certification exam upon successful completion.

We’ve been in business since 2017. In that time, we’ve certified several hundred CNA’S. Our graduates go on to become Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Doctors, Business Owners…

We are known for our no stress, laid back environment. If you look at our Google reviews, you would think we were running a comedy club.

What sets us apart from others? We are flexible we have Day, Night and Weekend classes. Also, we interject real-life experience into our lectures to let the students know what it’s really like in the field.

What makes me most proud is that we make an impact in the lives of our students. I’ve taught a grandmother, her daughter and her granddaughter. That’s three generations that have a new outlook on life because of our program.

I’d like the readers to know that as long as you don’t quit, you can never fail. Our tag line is #keeponpushing.

*Our students graduate with everything they need to become employed as a Healthcare professional.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk is necessary. I’ve never really considered myself a risk taker, I don’t like heights, I don’t gamble, I don’t ride Rollercoasters but in life, there aren’t many guarantees. I took a risk by quitting my safe job that I was great at to build One Breath CNA and it worked out.
