Inspiring Conversations with Will Dalzell of GameChangers Foundation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Will Dalzell.

Will Dalzell

Hi Will, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I struggled with addiction in my 20s and got clean at 28 at the Bridges of Hope. 10 years later, I got a vision from the Lord about a place of recovery and retreat center that needed to be built locally. We found the land, and the Lord put the vision together, and today, so far, we have 2 houses where men get clean from drugs and alcohol. Also, a training center where some of these guys in phase 2 can stay and get job training in the trades

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been up and down, but the Lord has been with us the entire time. We have had to work through issue with the county about the homes and what we are doing. We have had sometimes where money got really tight. We have had some guys relapse and/or die. Overall, there has been many people helped and also lots of family reconciliation

As you know, we’re big fans of GameChangers Foundation. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
GameChangers Mission: Providing spiritual environments and experiences in Christ that encourage recovery in the hearts, minds, and souls of those struggling in their marriages or substance abuse.

Vision: GameChangers Foundation is a 150-acre master planned tract of land in Plum Branch, SC. GameChangers Foundation is a site built with two distinct ministry facilities divided by a fully functional 30-acre landscape tree farm. The marriage retreat facility is a short-stay facility with an amenities center. The substance recovery center is a long-term stay facility with amenities center, life coaching, and nursery trade training area.

These facilities exist to be a safe place where those struggling in their marriages or substance abuse can find tranquil environments away from the everyday stresses life brings. In these environments, GameChangers leadership teams help to challenge clients and facilitate honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness to change. During this process, our residents work through a biblically based recovery program so they can heal and then go reach the world to spread the Good News.

Core Values:

Christ: Christ is Lord overall. We praise, honor, and glorify him in our recovery and use the Bible as a guide for our daily lives.

Love: We strive to be and demonstrate the love people need when they are discouraged and doubt that love is still the way.

Change: This change comes from seeking the Lord with honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness for daily recovery and healing.

Moxie: The strength to get back up when people, situations, or ideas try to knock us down. This is essential for lasting change.
