Today we’d like to introduce you to Zay Appling.
Hi Zay, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I would first like to thank VoyageAtl for giving me the opportunity to spread my story. I am the Founder and CEO of 20/20 Visions and CEO of Vibration Drinks but the idea of entrepreneurship dates back to my youth days. Growing up in my youth days, football and being a business owner were two things I knew I wanted to pursue (and still following out that vision to this day). The phrase “20/20 Vision” was something I started back in High School because my football number was 20. When I got to college I wanted to turn it into a brand so I added the s to the end so it would be less personal to me and more for the people because we all have the ability to create a crystal clear vision. Fast forward to how the business side of the company started. It was 2019 and the end of my football season. I wanted a short highlight video but I didn’t feel like paying anyone so I made it myself since I already had the software for premiere pro on my computer. It came so effortlessly to me so ever since then videography has been apart of 20/20 Visions. My mom has always been a great photographer so it only made sense to make that a service as well and I edit the pictures. The apparel side of the business came about because I studied marketing in school and I knew that was a great way for your brand to expand and once I started creating my designs it opened up a creative side of me I never knew I had. I created the official logo on a Saturday night in my dorm room February 20th 2020 and became an official LLC in April of that same year. Vibration Drinks was started the summer of 2020 at my brother’s apartment. He made a drink that he wanted me to try and at first I thought it was a joke. Once I tasted it I knew for sure that it was certainly not a joke and we have a golden product right here. Since that day we have continuously enhanced the taste to the point where I personally consider it a very commercial taste so now the only thing we are focused on is funding and brand exposure. Today both business continue to produce quality services and products and are growing, expanding, and creating great relationships.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Many times people think running a business is just flowers and daises so I want to provide a time period where entrepreneurship was not that at all. It was my senior year of College, Fall 2020, and I was making hoodies and shirts (making designs, printing, cutting, and pressing), editing videos, taking pictures and editing them, and selling drinks all while I had a full class schedule with an internship. I finished that semester with 4 A’s and 1 B. That semester took a lot of commitment, grit, and determination. I really do think that was my breakthrough point because if I did not give up through that time then I am built for this journey. Some other difficulties I have had to dealt with was machines malfunctioning, messing up on hoodies, waiting on shipments, and so much more. Obstacles is just something that comes with this journey and you have to be ready to face it head on.

What sets us apart is that everything we produce, product or service, is high quality because we understand that the work we put out represents us so we do not take that lightly at all and in turn our clients are satisfied and become regulars and not just one time clients. What I am most proud about brand wise is the logo and the support we have so early on. Every time I look at the logo it is definitely a logo I can see plastered around cities. -Vibration Drinks specializes in fine tasting lemonade currently but definitely will be expanding far past that once we start getting things automated. What sets us apart is that there is not one top lemonade company that has our refreshing taste. It’s flavorful, stays on the tongue, yet light on the tongue at the same time. I am also proud of this logo as well and the name also. Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like best about the city is the connections you can make and the business owners you can run into but what I don’t like about the city is the traffic and sometimes the lack of originality I sometimes see. The city would thrive with more if people followed their own ideas and had more authenticity. Some people have million dollar ideas and don’t even know it because they are fusing other peoples ideas.
