J C shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
J, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Exercising and working out with my family bring me joy outside of work. Being physically well and mentally is huge part of life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My brand is an Internet brand ranging from domain names to movies. What makes my brand unique is that potential clients can choose to build their own brand on our website or check out the cool content that I release from time to time. Right now I’m building an online educational portal similar to Coursera for affordable online courses behind the iapom brand.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The moment that really shaped me and how I see the world is moving to the middle of nowhere with no car. Walking 2 miles to the nearest store. Taking Lyft everywhere. Having to get a 9-5. That allowed me to humble myself and focus on 1 brand instead of 5 at a time. Pushing iAPOM for online marketing. Understanding everyone doesn’t need to a website or professional email. Discovering plans and ways to get the brand in front of the right people.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Wounds of life is knowing the people that you thought cared about your product really don’t. Thinking that you are a team but it’s really just you. You are the your brand. During the good time and during the bad times. You heal from them by keep pushing forward. Finding the people, discovering the people who can utilize your services.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lies the online and social media industry is saying is that everyone is making major money. Half of it is prop money. Some of it money shared by the people around them to use in different videos. Some of it is lies. Only about 1% is really true.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
Building an online brand that sales domain names, professional emails, website builder and WordPress DIY services on iAPOM. The brand have to become a trust worthy brand online before it will payoff.
