Life & Work with Jazz Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Johnson. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Jasmine “Jazz” Johnson, blessed with the gift of dance also known as Chocolate Drop Make It Pop is a world-renowned Dancer, Choreographer, Teacher, Founder of T.W.E.R.K NOLA & Muse.

Hailing from the great city of New Orleans Jazz started dancing at the age of 10 and began training at New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts, NORD/ NOBA, Booker T. Washington HSPVA and Alvin Ailey. This NOCCA alum received her BFA in dance from SUNY Purchase College. Upon graduation, Jazz’s career took off with her debut feature in Beyonce’s “Grown Woman” music video. Jazz has share her talents on stages across the world from movies, television, award shows, performing with top artists in the industry like Kelly Rowland, Queen Latifah, Nas, Drake, Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, Lil Kim, Will Smith, and many more.

After thriving in NYC for nearly a decade, Jazz was lead to fulfill a purpose far bigger then herself. She felt it was her duty to return to her hometown to create, build and uplift the very same community she came from. Jazz has created a community teaching wellness, empowerment, and representing culture. Jazz continues to share all that she’s learned on her journey so that people are inspired to live their life authentically and believe in their dreams.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Adulting has been one of my biggest challenges so far. I’ve entered so many new roles all at once which had me feeling overwhelmed! Over the years, I’ve had obstacles that taught me so much about myself, shine light on ways I can improve in communicate, listen, and lead. I can honestly say I feel a shift, sense of growth. I am so grateful because it’s a journey. You go thru to GROW thru. BALANCE IS KEY.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
