Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Joycelynn Okezie

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Joycelynn Okezie. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Joycelynn, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
A ministry and also my relationship with God. Starting a ministry is not for the faint of heart, especially when you are staying true to your morals, values, authenticity, and integrity. I work with Lead Pastor Dones Godwins at Global Praying Church in Atlanta, Georgia, and serve as the Media and Marketing Director. While it’s been rewarding, people can’t see all the work that goes into building a ministry. But what I will say is that it is a truly rewarding experience to serve God and be on your divine assignment in Christ.

I’m proud of building my relationship with God because, before I was saved last year, my views of the Lord, religion, God, and spirituality were false and skewed by the world. The Bible says, Be not of the world but transformed by the renewing of your mind. Just having an authentic relationship with my Creator and Father in heaven is truly freeing—knowing that I can come to Him about anything and everything, and also surrender my burdens, hardships, and battles unto Him because He cares for me and never gives me anything I cannot handle. He truly is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, and since I’ve devoted my life to serving His kingdom and laid my idols down, I’ve seen a significant change in my life—starting with my humility, mindset, purpose, devotion, and meekness toward my calling. Even the way I start my day has changed; everything is more intentional when you are in tune with God and His will for your life.

I am proud of getting to know God every day, discovering His will, and I’m excited for what we are building at Global Praying Church Inc., because His mercies are new every morning.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, my name is Joycelynn Okezie, and I serve as the Media and Marketing Director at Global Praying Church, Inc. What makes our ministry so special and unique is that we are a new church focused on saving souls, bringing the lost into the Kingdom of Christ, and teaching the message of salvation especially to first-generation Millennials and Gen Zers. We believe salvation is for everyone.

Our ministry is unique because we are global intercessors, spreading this message not only throughout the United States but across the entire world. Many describe the times we live in as “the end times” because of the trials and tribulations people are facing from overwhelming work schedules, jobs they dislike, unemployment, or juggling multiple jobs, to the pressures of social media and living in difficult conditions. On a global scale, we see calamities such as earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, wars, famine, genocide, and violence often tied to religion, gender, or location.

But in the Bible, Jesus reminds us that although the world is full of trouble, He has overcome it. Global Praying Church exists to remind people especially those who are lost of the Lord’s salvation, His promises, and His love.

We are growing quickly as an online ministry. We formed in August 2024 and launched our YouTube channel in December 2024. Our online ministry has grown significantly, and we’d like to invite everyone to join our services. On Wednesdays and Fridays at 6 AM Eastern Time, we hold our Global Revival Impartation Prayer sessions an hour of focused praying and interceding from 6 to 7 AM Eastern. On Sundays, our service starts at 11 AM Eastern Time and is livestreamed on our YouTube channel, GLOBAL PRAYING CHURCH.

We specifically pray for people who are going through spiritual bondage, family issues, identity struggles, financial difficulties, career challenges, or who are in need of deliverance and breakthrough. We mentor and coach new believers and intercede for those needing prayer. Whatever issue they face even sickness and disease we are consistent, faithful prayer warriors.

We also pray for nations. Through our prayers, we have witnessed 24-hour miracles and divine testimonies, which come from the anointing and calling God has placed on this ministry.

What many don’t understand is that heaven is “hiring.” As the Bible says:

“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.”
— Matthew 9:37

God is calling us to labor in His kingdom. The Bible also says:

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
— Matthew 7:13-14

This reminds us that the path to life is narrow, and only a few find it but we are committed to guiding people to that path through Christ.

As the Media and Marketing Director, my role is to share this good news through our content and brand. One of the most exciting things on our calendar is our first annual prayer conference, GRIP: Global Revival Impartation Praying Conference scheduled for July 3–4, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia. This two-day event will be the first of many impactful gatherings as we continue to create films, produce powerful content, host events, and spread the gospel. Our mission is to ensure that every soul knows Jesus cares for them, loves them, and calls them to cast their burdens onto Him.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
God did. The Bible says, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13, NIV). The world can try to skew our identity through the lies of the enemy, and maybe before we truly knew our identity in Christ, we believed those false names, beliefs, and mindsets. But as a child of God, He knew me before I knew myself both as a child and now as an adult, steadily discovering His will and following Him daily on this walk with Christ.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
God uses imperfect people. Suffering is a part of life; life isn’t a fairytale free of pain, trials, or tribulations. In fact, suffering molds and refines us. The Apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 8:18 (NIV), “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” Our suffering here on earth pales in comparison to what Jesus endured on the cross for us. He died so that we might live “to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21, NIV). Through His sacrifice, we are given new life, and even in our trials, we find purpose and hope.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I was a heavy believer in the New Age Movement—Astrology, Numerology, Energy, New Moon and Full Moon worship, Crystals, Manifesting, the Laws of Kemet, and following Egyptian ways of life. In many ways, this can be seen as witchcraft and occult knowledge, which opens doors to demonic oppression and influence, marine spirits, and spiritual danger in one’s life. We think it’s fun, cool, cute, and hip, but in the spiritual realm, it blocks our blessings, forms covenants with the devil, and drives us further away from God.

But when I came into the knowledge of Christ, I began to understand the deception of the enemy. If God delivered the Israelites (His people) from the Egyptians, why are we going back to Egypt? Worshipping sun gods like Ra, Osiris, Horus, wearing ankhs, getting Egyptian tattoos (guilty)—when God saved us from that affliction. The Bible shows in Exodus 14:21-22 (NIV) how the Lord parted the Red Sea to protect the Israelites from the wrath of Pharaoh and the Egyptians: “Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.”

When you grow up in a Christian household and go to church every Sunday, at times that isn’t enough if you don’t have a personal encounter with God. We are just told that God is good and taught a vague concept of heaven and hell. Even when the pastor at church tells us to go out and make disciples, it sounds daunting and impossible. But I believe that when you know God, He gives you His Holy Spirit to accomplish ALL things, for the Bible says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). Without an encounter with God and developing spiritual disciplines, it’s easy to be deceived through social media, music, entertainment, and friends—especially with how popular the New Age movement is now.

I was naive and wrong about believing in these New Age mindsets and practices because they brought me far away from God and were very deceiving. It never ends and takes you down a rabbit hole in search of knowledge of self and truth—but not God’s Word or truth.

The Bible says in Isaiah, “Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.” But then it goes on, “Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.”

This reminds me that when we are overwhelmed and looking for answers, those who claim to have all the solutions—like astrologers and fortune tellers—can’t truly save us. They are like dry stubble that gets burned up with nothing left to keep warm by. It’s a powerful reminder not to put our trust in things that won’t truly help us when life’s real challenges come, but to seek God’s truth above all.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
My faith in God, my calling, my prayers, and His Word—which endures forever—are the foundation of my life. The Bible says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away” (Matthew 24:35, NIV). I am not defined by how much money I make, how many degrees I have, what I studied in school, or my title or role within a company. Instead, I am defined by how I positively impact the lives of God’s children through the gifts He has given me and how I faithfully use them to fulfill His will.
