We’re looking forward to introducing you to Michelle Scotland. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I’m walking a path that I’ve intentionally created through experience, faith, and purpose. Every season of my life has taught me something that shaped this journey. I don’t wander aimlessly. I explore with direction. Sometimes the path curves, but it always leads me closer to my purpose: serving others through compassion, care, and excellence.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Michelle Williford Scotland, founder of NewVisions Concierge Care, a luxury nursing and recovery brand that blends clinical excellence with compassion and discretion. With over 20 years of nursing experience, I’ve worked in nearly every corner of healthcare—hands-on patient care, business development, and consulting for concierge and private-care models across Georgia, Florida, and Texas.
My journey began with Tres’ Belle Recovery Care, my first company dedicated to supporting plastic-surgery patients and collaborating with some of Atlanta’s most respected surgeons and physicians. Through that work, I learned that recovery isn’t just medical, it’s emotional, personal, and deeply human.
Building on that insight, I later expanded my vision through NewVisions Home Care and ultimately evolved into NewVisions Concierge Care, where I could provide the same level of skilled nursing and compassion, but in a more elevated, private, and personalized way.
Every stage of my journey has been driven by one thing—a GENUINE love for nursing and a commitment to redefining what exceptional care feels like.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My grandmother, Ida Mae, and my third-grade teacher, Mrs. Rowden, both saw pieces of the woman I would one day become. My grandmother carried a quiet strength—she modeled compassion, service, and grace in everything she did. Watching her taught me that caring for others wasn’t just an act, it was a calling.
Mrs. Rowden was pure love wrapped in patience. She made me believe I was capable of great things even before I understood what that meant. She nurtured confidence, kindness, and curiosity in me—traits that became the foundation of my nursing career and the heart of my business today.
Because of them, I learned that real leadership begins with love, and that caring deeply for others is both my gift and my purpose.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
I’ve changed my mind about not being a successful entrepreneur. There was a time when I doubted myself—when things didn’t go as planned, when I had to start over, and when I questioned if I was really built for business. But failure taught me that success isn’t about perfection; it’s about persistence, faith, and alignment.
Every setback pushed me to refine my vision, not abandon it. What I thought was failure was really redirection—preparing me to build something stronger, more purposeful, and more aligned with who I am. Today, I know I am a successful entrepreneur, not because everything is easy, but because I never stopped believing that my purpose was bigger than my problems.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. I’m authentic. What you see in public is the same person behind the scenes, just a woman walking in her purpose with faith and intention. I don’t believe in creating a “persona” to impress people. My strength, my kindness, and even my lessons come from real experiences.
Whether I’m speaking with a client, mentoring another nurse, or showing up online, it’s all me—no filters, no performance. I’ve learned that authenticity connects people more than perfection ever could.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’m absolutely doing what I was born to do. Caring for people has always been in my DNA—it’s not something I was told to do; it’s who I am. I helped even as a child care for my grandmother. Nursing gave me the foundation, but purpose gave me direction.
I wasn’t created to play it safe or follow a script. I was born to create, to serve, and to build something that changes the way people experience care. Every part of my journey—from bedside nursing to business ownership—has been about answering that calling with boldness, compassion, and faith.
I’m not following orders, I’m following PURPOSE.
