Life and Work with Anita Stoudmire

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anita Stoudmire.

Anita, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a licensed professional therapist by profession who is also passionate about relationships and improving them. I started my dating and relationship business, Better Love Movement, online last year in the hopes of reaching and helping even more people than the ones who reside near me. I graduated from Morris Brown College some years back and was an Elementary School Teacher for many years. I met and married a Morehouse Medical School graduate and we moved to Cleveland, Ohio so that he could complete his residency. We had three children and later divorced. I had stayed home with my children for about 12 years and decided it was time to restart my life’s journey again. I have always had a passion for helping people and I was always told I would be a teacher and a counselor when I was young. I went back to school and got my Masters Degree in Professional Counseling and became a licensed therapist. I have had many jobs in mental health and I find working with clients one on one in private practice most rewarding.

Last year in 2018, I finally launched my business, Better Love Movement, and I have a podcast, I create online courses on dating and relationships, and I write ebooks and produce videos for social media. On occasion, I will speak at a conference or will have a live workshop on the techniques that I teach. My signature course is called “Feminine Power Mastery” and I believe in giving women the power to have the relationship that they want by utilizing the skills they already possess but haven’t used! I take today’s woman back to a simpler time when she had the ability to ignite passion in a man and get him to do just about anything to make and keep her happy. I’ve used social media to get this message out there to women of all ages and I’m especially passionate about teaching my millennial women these skills. I am currently working on a book on the journey to healing for African American women. I believe it’s time for the Black woman to experience healing from the inside out and to take ownership of her life and her choices so that she can have everything she really wants.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So, the road hasn’t been linear, that’s for sure! No one’s journey is and you will see many twists and turns, some really great surprises and some not so wonderful stumbling blocks on the road to success. After my divorce, I was raising three small children alone and when I decided to go back to school to become a therapist, there were many long days and nights. I experienced some financial hardship immediately after my divorce and had to utilize food pantries and food stamps to feed us! I worked some small jobs when I could and it was more cost effective to be with my children than to work full time and pay for daycare for all three of them. This business is my third try at entrepreneurship; I have previously owned a bakery business and I launched a children’s safety shirt business. I am an entrepreneur at heart! I love working for myself and it takes a real passion for what you’re doing to continue to keep going when it gets hard. My advice to any women, young or seasoned, is to get your MIND RIGHT! Your mindset is everything. You have to surround yourself with books and people, and podcasts and YouTube videos of people who are doing it and doing it BIG! You have to see what you want and visualize every day. Then, you have to believe that it can happen for you and believe that it’s possible. I love to use affirmations to reprogram my mind of negative thoughts. I write down things that I wish were true and I write them in the present tense. I also stay grateful for everything that I have and for everything that is on its way. I would encourage them to get a mentor also. Join mastermind groups and find people who are doing what you want to do.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a licensed therapist and I work with people (primarily couples) one on one in private practice. I also work with singles and couples online through my online coaching program. My signature course is called Feminine Power Mastery and I teach women how to use their Feminine Power to have the relationships they want, especially with men. Women are the keeper’s of all things relationship so I tell them the power lies within them to create real changes in their men. For single women, I teach them the skills to attract and keep the man that they want and for ladies who are in a committed relationship or married, I teach them how to bring back the man they fell in love with who was pursuing them non-stop! I teach women to put themselves first and to have it all without doing it all! Some of my methods are seen as “old fashioned” and many of today’s millennials push back until they see how great the techniques work! I am so proud to be able to help so many women feel good about themselves and their relationships again. I also work with men on embracing their masculinity in a healthy way. I am developing a course for men so they have more successful relationships too! My podcast gives men and women relationship advice from a common sense perspective and gives people the communication skills needed to have fulfilling relationships that last.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
As I stated before, I am a HUGE affirmation person! I give all of my client’s affirmations to help them change their negative beliefs surrounding love. I have an app that I recommend everyone download and it’s called Think Up. It allows you to record in your own voice for affirmations and you can listen to them every day. If you get the premium subscription, you can record as many affirmations as you would like and you can listen to them over music and you can set a timer to listen to them as you fall asleep. I recommend every client download that app. I am also reading several books on relationships right now. I am reading “The Empowered Wife” by Laura Doyle. I use her books with my wives when they come in complaining about their husbands. I am also reading “The Truth About Men” by Devon Franklin and this book has been a huge blessing! I believe it should be required reading for every man and if they can get through it, it has the potential to save them so much heartache. Some of the podcasts I listen to are Jay Shetty’s On Purpose, Nicole Moore’s Love Works, Dr. Pat Allen’s Podcast, and the I Do podcast with Chase and Sarah.
