Life & Work with Babalola Fatinikun

Today we’d like to introduce you to Babalola Fatinikun.

Hi Babalola, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory
Its actually kinda funny how I got into it. Back in 2017, I would see pictures of my favorite athletes/entertainers and was like, why can’t I do that? Luckily my birthday was around the corner and I had asked for a camera and sure enough, I got one! This journey on photography has been a wild one to say the least, with lots of downs and ups… I’m thankful for them all. To me, learning something doesn’t come as natural/easy as it would for others. So for myself, I’m a hands-on learner and has to do something a thousand times for me to get it right. Honestly, YouTube is the reason why I’m this far along in my journey. They have a ton of free info on anything you want to learn, but here is the trick you have to apply what you learn to get it down right. It just takes time, some peoples pace are going to be faster than yours, but that’s fine. You gotta keep your head down and keep going.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been honest. Finding a style was one of my first problems, but now I can say I have one. Sometimes there is miscommunication between you and the client and that’s never fun. Also, setting a price was hard for me at first as well as you grow you are able to charge more accordingly.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a photographer/videographer. I specialize mainly in the photo from portrait, fashion, lifestyle/event photos. I am mainly known for my portraits will be expanding on my video so that people can I do that too just not photos. I am most proud of my progress through this. Honestly, I never thought about quitting photography once. I just love it so much. I thank God he lead me to the camera cause in a sense, I think I found myself. I think what sets me apart from other photographers is my attention to detail/customer service. I’m always checking in on my clients once they book, making sure everything is flowing smoothly even during the shoot, making sure they are comfortable. I’m all about having a good time while having a photoshoot. After the shoot, I’ll still check in with clients because for me personally, once you book me we are friends and I care about your well-being.

What were you like growing up?
I was the goofy kid, was voted class clown and most spirited in my class. All of my interests then are about the same now. They center around people and creating things. I use art as another way to express myself. I’d rather let the art speak for me rather myself.
