Today we’d like to introduce you to Beryl La Verne Hudson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Beryl La Verne. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I initially started working as a social security case manager in 2013. I came to love the work I was doing and wanted to learn more and go further in the social security disability field. The disability attorney I was working for in 2014, Louis B Lusk had a very busy practice, and I asked him how I could go about representing clients at hearing in the hopes of attaining disability benefits for them. I also asked him if I could start representing some of his clients at hearings. After many conversations between the two of us, he finally agreed, and from that point on he became my mentor. He went on to unselfishly share his vast knowledge of the SSA disability arena. I cannot thank him enough for what he has taught me.
I continued to work for his disability firm for several years. In August of 2018, I made the difficult decision to branch out on my own, and formed my own company, Beryl Hudson Disability Advocates Service LLC. I currently have my own client base, however, I also work as an independent contractor for other disability attorneys, and disability organizations.
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but it has been a rewarding one! I feel that we should require ourselves to be of service to others in this life. Over the years I have represented hundreds of clients who are in a very bad way, many of them very sick, homeless, and beaten down due to the system failing them time and time again. My goal is to do as much as I can to assist them, by helping them get back on their feet, so that they can live a better quality of life. It is very difficult to see your fellow man in these type of situations. Knowing how long and confusing the disability process takes, they need the assistance of someone qualified to make this journey with them. Most times, people who are in need of disability assistance are in dire need situations and need immediate help. It can be a struggle for them, and many find it confusing to wade through the vast amounts of disability paperwork required to start a claim. A lot of these individuals have worked their entire lives, and suddenly (through no fault of their own) they becomes seriously ill, and are unable to care for themselves and provide for their families. Many initially have support from family and friends, but after a time that supports wanes, and these individuals are left by the wayside, confused and disenchanted.
My advice to other women, particularly young women would be to know that being of service to others is very rewarding to say the least. Working in this industry helps to keep you grounded. It makes you humble, appreciate every day, and realize just how blessed you are. It also reminds me to be thankful. There is no greater pleasure for me than to be able to call one of my clients to let them know their disability claim has been approved. Not only will their financial situation improve, but they will be able to receive a better quality of medical attention.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Beryl Hudson Disability Advocates Service – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am a Social Security Disability Advocate. We advocate for those in the disability arena, who, for whatever reason, are unable to maneuver through the disability process alone. It can be very confusing if you do not have experienced, adequate representation. Our Case Manager, Theresa Allen, handles client intake, and makes sure to stay connected to our clients. She has worked for, and with me since the business was established, offering excellent client services. She is the eyes and the ears of our business. The business certainly would not be where it is today without her assistance, and I thank her for all of her many contributions.
I am most proud of the fact that we win 95% of the disability claims for our clients! I am also proud of the fact that we are a customer service based company! I feel this is what sets us apart from other, larger, disability firms. We care about our clients, and we make it a point to let each and every client know just how important they are, and that we value them as such. This is a relatively new business, and I am proud of just how far we have come. I attribute this success to a clear vision of dedication, hard work, and our desire to continue educating ourselves about this ever changing industry.
As a customer service-based business, we put our clients first by letting them know that we will do everything we can to get their disability claims approved. I’m proud that we stay connected to our clients, letting them know that we care about their physical, emotional, and medical well being.
Who have you been inspired by?
I would have to say that my mother and my two daughters have inspire me the most! My mother gave me a solid foundation from the beginning. She taught me to stay positive and always made me believe that I could do anything I set my mind to. She also taught me to be of service to others, in whatever way I could, and I have tried to follow her guidance. My daughters, are my cheerleaders, they keep me motivated and grounded. Both of them inspire me to keep moving forward, no matter how hard the road seems, and to always pay it forward!
