Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Willis.
Hi Candace, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I purchased my home at 23 and the experience with my real estate agent did not go well. As a first-time homebuyer, I expected a lot more from her. This is when I first started to consider becoming a real estate agent. I was very certain that I could provide my clients with a completely different experience – a better experience. And I wanted to really educate them on the home buying process. Also, I am employed by the General Services Administration (GSA), a federal government agency, as a Lease Contracting Officer.
In this position, I lease commercial buildings to other federal agencies. Working in commercial real estate for the past nine years also fueled my desire to get into residential real estate. My business has grown by referrals and word of mouth. I am fortunate to have a great network that constantly promotes me and my business. My clients trust me. They know that I genuinely have their best interest at heart and I am not just trying to sell them a house. My business is successful because my clients know that I understand the importance of homeownership.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My real estate journey has been as smooth as sandpaper. It has been very rough at times, as with working with sandpaper, the finished product for my clients are a place to call home and that is what makes it rewarding. As a real estate agent, you have to be self-motivated and you have to grind. Honestly, that aspect did not always come easy to me when considering past jobs and school. Up until now, everything came relatively easy, however the real estate industry requires you to actually put in work and you must have the impeccable work ethic. Once I began to understand that my success rested solely on me, my mind shifted, and I started on the path to become a successful real estate agent.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a real estate agent that services the Metro Atlanta area, specializing in assisting first-time homebuyers in preparing for homeownership. The process of purchasing a home can be incredibly overwhelming. As an agent, my goal is to help alleviate stress while advocating on behalf of my clients. I literally take on the role of a friend, a counselor, and a teacher to provide top-tier customer service.
My clients always compliment me on my patience, my genuine care and concern for them, and my knowledge of the homebuying process. Those are traits that set me apart from a lot of other agents in the industry. Although I am proud of the expansion of my business, I am most proud of my personal growth. My work ethic has increased dramatically, and my confidence has grown significantly. So far, in my first three years as a real estate agent, I have capped my commission; made top sales associate in the X-celerater program; and I made top producer in my brokerage in three different categories: top gross commission, top units sold, and top new listings. These awards speak to my persistence and my dedication to providing home buyers and sellers with the tools that they need to have successful transactions.
What’s next?
I am always setting bigger and better goals for my business and myself. One of the newest and most exciting ventures is to create a family legacy through real estate. My plan is to get my broker’s license within the next year. And I have started recruiting family members to join me on this real estate journey. As a family business, we will not only create wealth for our family but assist other families in creating wealth through real estate investment.
