Life and Work with Christionne Marie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christionne Marie.

Christionne, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
To start things off, I fall into the category of an R&B singer, singer-songwriter. I’ve always had an old school, jazz, soul feel about myself. I tried so hard to keep up when I was little, that I would literally watch one of my favorite singers Beyoncé, and just mimic her till I got her notes right which sometimes didn’t always sound exactly like hers. Ever since I was younger, my mom told me that I would just hum in the backseat in my car seat. In my younger teens, singing was just something I was good at, especially when I would watch all my idols on tv and I would just perform like I was on stage too. Of course, I got on my family’s nerves. Eventually, I started taking music courses and joining the choir to improve my singing techniques. I also loved musicals and Broadway, so of course, that was number one on my list as soon as I entered high school.

Once I got in my late teens, I started to write my own songs and performing at talent shows where all my friends supported me. I have to say music has been part of my life to the point to where I chose to pursue it as a career; going full force I became part of the school of music as a music management major. My music is a bit more eloquent, pulling from all parts of my heart. This, of course, is a natural thing for me to do because my hometown, New Orleans, is the home of soulful jazz music. Once I began my journey, I ran into a lot of stumbling blocks, yet my melodic vocals seemed to surpass all my challenges. When I auditioned for AMDA in Los Angeles, getting accepted there showed me I can go so far. Right now, I am an upcoming artist in Atlanta attending Georgia State University. My music is blasting with so much real and uniqueness that I just love expressing it and sharing it like it’s my diary in a way. Music is more than just life to me; it is the way of life, and I will always continue to strive forward to fulfill my dreams.

Has it been a smooth road?
I mean there’s always going to be bumps in the roads when you’re working for something you’re passionate about. I’ve been through hell but, who hasn’t? I just wanna show young women that we’re so independent and that no matter what’s thrown our way, we’ve got it!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with your business – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Well, I love songwriting. It’s something that was like therapy for me; for instance, I have bad anxiety. Usually, if something goes wrong or something eventually ends, instead of me going crazy, I just write my songs on how I’m feeling. Singing is something I love doing as if it’s just breathing to me, but songwriting was just the icing on the cake once I started recording. Though a lot of people do comparisons these days when it comes to music, my music gives this vibe that people will know it comes from me.

Who have you been inspired by?
I’ve been inspired by so many influential women. One of them being Beyoncé, I’ve always looked up to her when it came to how she performed, handling her business, and her passion for music. Another one was Barbara Streisand. Her movies, her voice, and her personality just inspired me to be myself and not be ashamed of being who I am. Aaliyah, Brandy, Lauryn Hill, Sade, Floetry, and etc., etc. These women for sure helped me developed my sound and style of music. I grew up watching them on tv while I would perform with them singing at the top of my lungs.
