Life and Work with Danielle Burgess

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Burgess.

Danielle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a fashion model and self-taught abstract artist using an array of mixed media to give depth and texture to my work. I have no doubt that my time traveling the world and working as a fashion model has not only given me a great appreciation for art but, also helped steer me to create and curate my own palette. I began painting out of need for a specific piece in my home and found so much joy in the process and finished product that I continued to paint. Which has lead me to where I am now, sharing my love.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I wouldn’t say this journey has been smooth sailing but I think the mountains along the way are for a purpose, proving you can come out stronger on the other side. The beauty of creating art in any form is that your process is documented like a diary and it is inspiring to look back on. I have been fortunate to have a incredible tribe of women that not only believe in me but also has pitched in their creative talents to grow my business. I would encourage women to surround themselves with people that support them, ones that give words of affirmation and lift you up. Never believe the lie that one persons success is another’s failure. There are going to be days that you feel like quitting, but don’t quit on the bad days! Take time to evaluate those emotions and then decide whether it is time for you to move on to your next adventure.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Danielle Burgess Art – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Restoration and preservation are very important to me. My husband and I have flipped three old homes and it was essential for us to pay homage to the integrity of the house by finding ways to utilize pieces that might have otherwise been discarded. This passion is now incorporated into my art; by using salvaged auto glass. I am taking the broken and transforming it into something beautiful. Up-cycling not only sets my art apart from the masses but it also gives body and dimension to my pieces.

Who have you been inspired by?
I had a incredible childhood, growing up my parents were always supportive of my dreams and never pressured me to attend college or fit into a mold. Having that freedom from pressure really allowed me to believe in myself and find my own path. Working as a model, 13 years prior to becoming an artist has given me the knowledge on how to run a self employed business which has definitely been beneficial in giving me a head start. There are still many goals I want to achieve in business and in life but, I appreciate where I am now and the process that has gotten me here.
