Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Crystal Jones.
Dr. Jones, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my professional journey into the wellness space right after graduation and a nutritionist and inmate supervisor for the county jail. Fresh out of school, I had no idea what to expect. I also worked for the government as a nutritionist in the VA hospital and for the county. Overall, at the time, the nutrition field left a lot to be desired by me. The field didn’t allow me to care for humans in a way the honored biochemical individuality. Still enthralled with biochemistry, my path directed me in the way of becoming a wellness consultant. With this licensure, I was able to focus on behavior change as it integrated all aspects of spiritual, emotional, mental, biochemical, and physical health. Living in two states at the same time, I worked my government job fulltime to afford me this type of life and took on private individual and corporate consulting clients. At a health fair, I was introduced to chiropractic and decided that I would explore the concept by getting adjusted. The philosophy and principal of the profession expanded my awareness into the truth that the body has the capability to heal itself. After mastering biochemistry and with all of my years of experience in the field, this concept was new to me. All I really knew to do in my formal jobs was to respond to patient needs based on their charts. The chiropractic adjustment served as a gateway into chiropractic school and being led in the direction of metaphysical teachers and guides. More than anything, I enjoyed the actual awareness of what chiropractic was and how the body had a primary goal of always healing itself.
Simultaneously, I began apprenticing with my elders and studying at the healing arts temple where I learned energy medicine and reiki among other modalities. After graduation, I opened two practices – one in NY and one in GA. At the very end of my graduate school career, I was touring with entertainers and working at festivals such as SXSW. My life was extremely hectic, yet I loved the work. In the midst of the traveling, I started speaking pretty often around the globe about healing. Somehow, I also became a doula (both birth and transition). This work took me deeper with clients to find their own power in healing. My practice shifted tremendously. Instead of working with a client for an hour, I was now working between 4 hours and 2 days at a time with one person. I was working with many clients that were in fragile mental states (mostly suicidal). I was working with families that were birthing, dying, and transitioning in between. I began speaking much more often and facilitating as a spiritual director for people and companies that desired the work. Other certifications that I earned were 200hr yoga and meditation and breathwork. My work began to focus around mindful integration with private clients. In the meantime, I founded The Healers’ Collective which is a full service wellness production company. This company has a specific focus on executive wellness strategies in companies that wanted to invest and grow in this manner. Fully staffed, we have contracts with some amazing companies.
My biggest leap in business has been The Sanctuary Experience. The Sanctuary is a spiritual healing center that focuses on bringing people into the awareness of their power and ability to heal. Based in Atlanta, Sanctuary offers Sunday installations, mentorship intensives and retreats activations that center around a deep dive into the soul. In the coming months, Sanctuary has plans to expand into its own space, and through that, offer daily wellness activations to raise the universal vibration. I serve as the founder, CEO and spiritual director of The Sanctuary
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. My entire journey has been the practice of following inner guidance and wisdom. I’ve had to make a lot of decisions that often didn’t make sense, yet I had to trust. My life often feels like I am taking a leap of faith into the unknown. I’ve gotten accustomed to the feeling and now my work is to lean into it.
Advice: listen to the inner voice. make sure that you are aligned. Without proper alignment spiritually, emotionally, mentally, biochemically, and physically, the inner voice feels like confusion. Delve into your core values, truths and beliefs first so that you have something to stand firm on. Circumstances arise, the foundation is important. Don’t skip out on the foundational work just to have a product. You’ll always be led within.
Please tell us about your business.
What I do:
I am the spiritual advisor for The Sanctuary.
I am the spiritual advisor to clients both individual and corporate –
with individuals, I focus on women through the lifespan – birth, death and all other forms of transition (marriage, divorce, loss and grief, career, etc.). I work with these women to acknowledge core values truths and beliefs and integrate them into and through the physiological space through bodywork.
Corporately, I create and curate the spiritual foundation for companies. I assess needs of leadership and act as the advisor for major decisions as well as curate relevant wellness initiatives that engage the company to meet company mission, vision, and purpose on a grand scale.
I speak on many different platforms about the integrity of the healing process. I walk many facilitators through their own personal work so that they can effectively meet the needs of those that cross their paths. I teach at different institutions that desire to place an emphasis on mindful integration
I facilitate restorative, mindful integration and meditation for a great deal of companies.
I am set apart because I have the awareness of spiritual and physiological integration through multiple realms and have the ability to serve and teach in an effective way that allows the message to sink in clearly and produce results.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I grew up as a child of the military, I think the greatest thing that I learned was to go to a place, do the work, and leave it better than I found it. This is how I work today.
I have a very supportive family.
