Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Hollier.
Erin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began my personal practice about 5 years ago in a small studio in Marietta called Be Yoga. The first class I took left me feeling enriched, tired, sore, and fulfilled. I was looking for a challenge physically, and I got that — but it was the spiritual awakening I felt that captured my attention and what drove me to continue my yoga journey.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Obstacles are a part of life, but when you take you eye off your goal all you will see are those things impeding your way! Having the courage to push through, staying motivated to make a change and being positive in the face of tough times are just a few lessons I’ve learned along the way. People may try to stand in your way, but you have to remind yourself daily that you are loved, you are amazing, and you are on the right path. Believing in yourself is the most powerful antidote to haters, negativity and hard times. Surround yourself with people who feel closest to sunlight. Eliminate anyone, and I mean anyone, who doesn’t support you or bring meaning into your life. Women are magical creatures capable of just about anything. You can give a woman anything and she will make it better because women have that power. Always remember that you have the power to be a force for good in this world!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with ATL YogaBabe – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Yoga is a wholistic approach to a balanced and fun lifestyle, and my brand, ATL YogaBabe, is representative of those of us who have struggled, who’ve been overlooked, passed over, or forgotten and for us to step out and say “hell nah, I want and DESERVE more!” ATL YogaBabe is a community of humans: men and women, young and old, flexible and tight, strong and gentle. We are a community of truth finders seeking our ultimate selves through yoga and the lifestyle it can bring. Building up our confidence and magical powers step by step through the practice of asanas, a healthy food consumption, and a fun attitude. It isn’t easy, but nothing worth achieving is easily obtained. Through yoga, we can empower each other and lift each other up! Through yoga, we become closer to our truest self. That divine being who is a force of change for the better. The yogi in us all has the ability to reawaken our dormant selves and shine a light on the truth. That’s why I return and continue to return, each and every day to my mat. My passion is to show this to all of my students. I want to show them that through yoga they can change their lives. I can give them the tools to be the best human beings they possibly can be. Isn’t that the most amazing thing?
Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
Belief is the biggest barrier. Society historically hasn’t lifted up women despite their underrated capabilities, and it doesn’t appear to be changing as quickly as some of you would like.
Progress takes time, true, so we must all ignore the messages telling us we “can’t,” and stop asking for permission and start taking up space. Women have faced adversity when confronted with the idea of working and balancing home life. I say do what makes you happy, but always be kind to others! Women who stand together to support one another no matter what is SEXY and POWERFUL!
