Life and Work with Faith Hudson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Hudson.

Faith, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I fell in love with photography watching my grandfather, who I called Pabo, take photos of nature and exploring all of the time! I loved how no image ever looked the same or how the light would effect the colors in the photos. As I grew up, my Pabo was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and sadly passed away in 2012, the year I started pursuing my passion for capturing special moments. I got my first “nice” camera for a Christmas present from my parents and at first, just took photos of nature and animals and such. Soon though, my focus shifted to people. And slowly but surely my hobby turned into a career. I now get to capture people special day in a way they can keep forever.

I dedicate all of my work to my Pabo and wish he could be here to see what I have made.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not always been a smooth road. It’s been long hours, stressful moments where I think am I even good enough to be doing this?

I would tell anyone who asked me though to never give up. set yourself apart from others by your own style! Don’t conform to “what’s in” or what is the “classic” way to do things! Get out there, be adventurous and put your heart into it. Also, never forget your passion for what you’re doing.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Hudson Photography – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in weddings and couples photography! I’m proud of the intimacy I can bring out in my sessions. I love capturing the love between two people in a way you can just see it radiating from their faces. I am proud of the growth and success of my business I have maintained while being a wife and a mother to my boys!

What sets me apart I feel like is my drive! You can tell I love what I do, especially at weddings. I won’t be just your photographer, but your friend, a dress fluffer, an errand runner and whatever else you need me to be!!

There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Most photographers are very kind and always willing to help you with any advice you need! I’ve always asked as many questions as I could to learn as much as I can so I can keep improving!
