Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Sisk.
Hi Jacqueline, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, I’ve always had a love for the arts- be it music, painting, whatever allowed me to express myself creatively! As I transitioned into adulthood, I put those childhood dreams aside and began to pursue a completely different career path. During those years, I became a wife and a mom of four working in various corporate positions. I didn’t feel fulfilled and had an onset of anxiety and depression. With the birth of our 4th child, I took an extended maternity leave as a way to reevaluate my circumstances. My husband and I made the tough choice to take a leap and allow me to become a stay at home mom.
While being at home for three years, I was able to connect with my children on a deeper level and through those moments I was able to reconnect with my childhood dreams of ultimately being a creative. Then birthed my business, Heavenly Handmade Designs, LLC! I forged ahead knowing I had the spirit of entrepreneurship and creativity! I taught myself new techniques to become an expert in my field! Although, I’m forever learning new things about business and my craft, I do not regret taking this huge leap!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It most certainly has not been a smooth road! Exclusively being home with the children and discovering myself with a newborn baby was all a great challenge! There are still days when I don’t know how I’ll manage! But with Grace, I’m able to make it work! The biggest struggle was managing my mental health and the needs of everyone around me! I also knew nothing about business or how we would make ends meet!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
You can call me “The sign maker”!! I specialize in custom wooden sign making and faux calligraphy! I am most proud of the baby announcement signs that my clients have requested! It warms me to know they trust me to create beautiful work for such a tender moment! I believe what sets me apart from the rest is the fact that I am a self-taught artist and everything I creative is done exclusively by hand. Each item is a little different and unique from the last!
What are your plans for the future?
Yes! Big things are coming! My hopes are to create an online course for those that would like to learn a new skill and/or hobby! Especially for those that struggle with mental Heath- I believe art and expressing yourself creatively can do a world of difference in those moments! I am also planning to have a brick and mortar shop to display my work and make it easy for clients to come in and shop!
