Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamila Glover.
Jamila, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My name is Jamila Glover and I am a single mother of two amazing boys. They have always been my number one motivation for succeeding in life. My journey in event planning started over ten years ago with my family and friends. I would plan their birthday parties, baby showers, anniversary parties, etc. It initially started off as just a hobby, but it was always something that I truly loved doing. It wasn’t until about three years ago that I really took myself serious and started my own Event Planning Business! That is when Beautiful Lyfe Creations was born. The name was derived from the meaning of my first and middle name – Jamila Aisha. Jamila means “beautiful” and Aisha means “life”. I changed the “i” in life to a “y” because I help people do two things, find their “why” in life and then create the “why” for all of their life changing moments. So it was only fitting for me to put the letter “y” in the Lyfe of my business.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Easy?!?! Not at all! The odds were already stacked against me because I became a teenage mother at the age of sixteen. Statistics states that only one-third of teen moms finish high school and even fewer obtain a college degree. However, I proved them wrong and did both. I then turned around and became an Entrepreneur, talk about defeating the odds. I initially struggled with believing in myself. I also struggled with being afraid to leave my 9-5 job and fully invest in myself and my business. My advice to all young women is to “keep going”, no matter what happens along your journey in life, never give up. There will be people that will doubt you along the way and there will be obstacles that may arise. However, you must “walk by faith and not by sight”! God will never put more on you, than you can bear. My key advice is to find your “why” or your purpose in life! I believe that you haven’t truly lived until you’ve discovered your “Y”! Until then, you are just existing!! My goal is not to just exist, but to leave an imprint in this world, create generational wealth for my family, and leave a legacy for my children’s children!

Beautiful Lyfe Creations is not your average event planning company and I am not your ordinary event planner! What sets us apart is my one of kind handmade designs, my passion for making people smile, and my creativity in customizing each event to set them apart. Most of my decorations are custom made by me. I always like to get a little background information from my clients about who they are and why they are having the event. I then take the information and transform their event specifically to their personalities and their needs! I specialize in all things events, from the beginning to the end; I am there to take your event to the next level. I am most proud of my genuine passion for bringing other people’s vision to Lyfe!! It brings complete joy to my soul when I see my clients enjoying their experience from one of our beautiful events!
There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
Everyone needs a mentor! Nobody has all of the answers themselves. Therefore it is wise to seek counsel from people that are in your field of business and that have accomplished the goals and aspirations that you desire to achieve. When I was younger, I felt like mentorship was far beyond my reach. So as I became older, I vowed to diligently seek valuable mentorship in my life and business, then reach back and become a mentor to upcoming young women as well. I am a student always and I will continue to learn as much as I can about business and life from my mentors. I will then make sure to pass down everything I know and learn to my mentees. It’s a domino effect to creating successful women across the world! To all of the current and future women entrepreneurs, I am proud of you, I love you, and I am rooting for you!
