Today we’d like to introduce you to Jiyan Hasan.
Jiyan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As long as I can remember, I always faced adversity in some form or fashion! Starting with my family escaping the war in Iraq in 1988 then living in a refugee camp for four years. Luckily, my family entered our name into a lottery where we got chosen as one of many families to come to the US for freedom and a new start! Then, came the weight gain starting at age seven which seemed like it was normal baby weight, after learning about emotional eating these past few years, it now makes sense why I had a difficult time controlling my eating. I was coping with food! Food kept me happy and my mind off of the daily mental warfare I was facing. My family, nor did I know what to do or how to get started on this weight loss journey as I got older and only gained more to where I reached my highest weighing 195lbs at age 16/17. Since my struggles and experiences with everything from weight loss pills and every program you can think of, I know can give back the knowledge I have gained to help others like myself, not just weight loss clients, but anyone who need assistance in reaching goals that are far beyond what their minds can imagine, so they too can adopt healthy habits and live a healthier lifestyle!
Although my degree is in Occupational Therapy which I practiced for four years before Pretty Fit Girls Club, LLC was born in 2013, I’ve got the most satisfaction helping others through fitness! I will forever be grateful for my career and all those I have touched along the way! 🙂
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth!? Lol, far from it! It has been the most challenging yet rewarding journey! Through every obstacle I have faced and overcome, I’ve learned something new about myself! Things that I now admire and take pride in! As a STRONG INDEPENDENT WOMAN! Many women don’t know how beautiful and strong they are! I’m one, if they come across me, will drill it in their heads and remind them quickly, lol.
My advice is to start where you are and love/appreciate YOU NOW or you will never even if you reach the goal that is working hard towards!
Please tell us about Pretty FitJ.
I’m a certified PT through NASM! I don’t have a specific specialty in fitness. It was never my passion to be great at something specific when training! My ultimate goal when I started this business was to help people see and feel the greatness we all hold within by using fitness as a tool to build characters and help reach that level of consciousness! If that makes sense. 🙂
But if I had something, I would say I’m great or I specialize in circuit training and building amazing legs/glutes. 🙂
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Stay in your own lane! Nobody can do YOU! You have to remain who you are because that is what is going to attract like-minded clients that are meant for you! Find what you are good at and CRUSH IT! If doubt rises in the process, do not fight it that is normal, feel it then move on! Do not overthink what you should be doing instead stick to the basics when it comes to building a successful business! And that is build rapport with your clients, give them what they are paying for, and keep them satisfied ALWAYS in order to keep them for life!
