Life & Work with Katrina Chanel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrina Chanel.

Hi Katrina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Throughout the tenure of my life, I’ve experienced many triumphs and victories that propelled me to now being a wife, mother, mentor and best-selling author. Growing up, I had many hopes and dreams, but like most children, I did not have a blueprint of how it would happen. There was no red carpet or easy way for me to figure this out. I started my grit for the grind very early when I started my career off as a retail associate at a popular clothing brand. Within the organization, I was able to move up to an assistant manager, but I wasn’t really getting paid very much money. While still navigating school and life, I found myself suspended from school with a 1.7 GPA. At the time surviving was more important than my education.

Like most people, it’s been a journey with a lot of falls, bumps, and bruises, sometimes literally. The catalyst behind my personal success is fully grounded in my faith in God. Without him, I am nothing and would not have the opportunities that I have been blessed with. The turning point in my life is when my daughter passed away it was at that time that I found myself at my lowest on my head loss astronomical amounts of weight. I actually felt like I lost my mind at that point in time. It was during that time that I was able to reconnect and strengthen my relationship with God. This led me to a normal life again. This motivated me to keep going. God showed me life in a different way and through that experience, I was able to get back on the path to success. I share my story as a practice of spiritual freedom. At times when you refuse to share your story or hold it in, your thoughts can intimidate you into a narrative that’s not true to reality. Writing is my outlet and avenue to inspire others through sharing the story of my life.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey was far from a smooth experience. I was suspended from school while with a 1.7 GPA, I lost my daughter in one of the most challenging seasons in my life and even lost my way in my faith. I learned during my healing process that all of this was apart of my story. Each of these obstacles gave me the platform to motivate others to overcome and strive to BE the person they believe they are deep within. I now know through my events, books and influence I have in the lives of many that my suffering was not in vain. Each of the hard obstacles I faced created the stage and platform I stand on today. It is my hope that people will continue to see hope in their lives through my books and motivation.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m specially crafted because of my gifting to motivate others. Through losing a child to graduating college after a failed semester, my story has become one of the best-selling books over the past two years. I’m most proud of myself for being grounded in the healing process and pursuing advanced studies to solidify my knowledge in my field. I’m also proud of myself for being resilient and trusting God enough to push through life when I’ve had every reason to give up. I’m very thankful for each of my supporters who attend my events, purchase my books and share them with people in their lives.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My oldest son was the driving force to my success. I grew into the woman I am today through the resilience of my hard work and, most times, standing alone in faith. My life experiences taught me how to survive. God protected me and guided me as I navigated homelessness, lack of support and even unemployment. I’ve seen evidence of my faith, and I owe everything to God for remaining faithful to his promises concerning my life.
