Today we’d like to introduce you to LaQuana L.APINK Alexander.
Hi LaQuana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
LaQuana Alexander of Unity in Our Community ATL LaQuana Alexander is a resident of Douglasville, GA and no stranger to the Atlanta Community. She began her journey in humanitarian works through her very own personal experiences. LaQuana once experienced being homeless, and while homeless was helping in feeding the homeless. She witnessed for herself the needs, emotions, and support that were longed for by her and others. Through her personal experience, LaQuana instantly knew that one day she would implement a support system for individuals in need, homeless, or just without the bare necessities in life.
In July 2016, LaQuana started Unity in our Community ATL which is a support system comprised of over 15 organizations with one common goal. Now partnered with Fountain of hope that feeds over 25,000 families a month That goal is to encourage and offer for those in need by providing education, shelter, meals, the community Boutique with LA pink we keep them standing indignity by taking them shopping one-on-one keeping them feeling like a million bucks with brand new and lightly used clothing, personal grooming, and toiletries. Unity in Our Community ATL was inspired by the hard work of the organizations involved witnessed by LaQuana in Atlanta, GA. Unity in Our Community ATL is a hand up an organization designed to lift anyone up and empower them in their life journey.
The organization’s vision is to ignite with the purpose to teach, train, equip, and empower individuals to function using the Keys of the Kingdom of God. Unity in Our Community ATL has begun this process by starting monthly “Feeding the Homeless” projects at Renaissance Park in Atlanta. The project consists of several organizations joining the Unity in Our Community ATL movement by bringing home-cooked meals, Wellcare, HIV testing by Recovery Consultants of Atlanta, Inc., clothing, phone service provided by SafeLink, haircuts, job resources (Job Corp.), healthcare, personal identity resources (birth certificate, social security card, etc.) and prayer.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Been a true roller coaster ride. It has been up-and-down and all around but God has been there when it stopped, I went from Homeless to Humanitarian!!! “I was homeless, but my spirit wasn’t homeless.”
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
God has gifted me with Favor, unique abilities and talents!!!! I EMPOWER DIGNITY THROUGH FASHION. I can meet them where they’re at, but I have to take them where I’m going to the top because the bottom is entirely too crowded. We serve the Kings and Queens of creation, all human beings, designed by God with dignity and dominion. Each image-bearer of God, regardless of color, culture or class, has intrinsic value and dignity waiting to be fully discovered and displayed.

To bring love, purpose, inspiration, confidence and style to each individual inside and out regardless of their color, culture or class.
