Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Ozley.
Morgan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been interested in the fashion industry and was blessed with the opportunity to work for a company dealing with just that. I was hired by the Blue Door Boutique in May of 2015 as a part of their warehouse staff. I quickly realized this was a field of work I was passionate about and wanted to stay in permanently. Upon graduating from Columbus State University in December of 2017, they offered me a position full-time.
While working for the Blue Door, I decided to start my own blog. At first, I mainly focused on fashion and I slowly started to incorporate more faith-based related posts. I’ve come to realize that my passion for inspiring and encouraging other women in the cyber world outweighs my love for clothes.
I am now working on starting up a local women’s bible study and branching out on blog topics that are relatable and transparent. I still can’t believe that I get to do what I love for a living all while being able to have this incredible creative outlet on the side that allows me to connect with so many new faces that I otherwise would have never met.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There’s never any growth or progress without a little struggle. I actually had many people tell me, “You’re crazy!”, for wanting to choose this career path. I honestly doubted myself many times especially when you hear that negative feedback from people you really love and care about, but something within me told me to stick to it. It definitely didn’t happen overnight, but a lot of hard work, coming in early and staying late paid off in the end. Here I am, 3+ years later, sitting right where God intended for me to be.
Any advice for ladies that want to enter the fashion industry? I would say start small and get your foot in the door. Be a genuinely hard worker and a team player. The Blue Door isn’t a one woman or one man show. We have a whole team that works their tails off behind the scenes to make it successful. Be patient and trust in God’s timing. I sometimes feel like I stumbled into this business, but I know my story was planned out far before I even knew what I wanted out of it.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I mentioned previously that I run my own blog on the side, although I don’t consider myself a true “blogger”. My goal with my site is to have a space to share encouragement from things in my daily life like bible studies, scriptures, books, and even songs. I want women to come to my page and leave feeling better than they came. I know how easy it is to compare yourself to anyone and everything around you, especially with the heavily driven social media outlets today. That’s why it is pivotal for me to share the word of God in my posts, or offer up a kind word.
When I think of something that sets me apart from others, I automatically think of a verse from 1 Corinthians 16 that says, “Let all that you do be done in love.” My goal in life is to do things wholeheartedly and in a way that brings joy to those around me. No, I’m not perfect. I have bad days just like everyone else, but I’m a strong believer that our perspective can change our position.
If you ever find yourself on my site, leave a comment or shoot me an email. I would love to hear from you and maybe a little bit about your story.
