Life and Work with Quintan Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quintan Johnson.

Quintan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a personal stylist and fashion blogger. My passion is sharing fashion, and styles that inspire every woman. I feel that all women are beautiful and deserve to look and feel their best every day!

My style journey starts from my teenage years. My wardrobe was always important to me. As a young woman, I had a vision of running my own clothing store. I didn’t know how or if it would ever happen, but the desire was always in my heart. I worked in several retail stores, as a sales representative, visual merchandising, and Wardrobe Stylist. But, later worked a 9-5 desk job for over 10 years.

Through blogging I found the strength to step out on faith and do what I love the most. Helping women find the right look for an event, or simply revamping their wardrobe brings me so much joy! Starting my own online clothing store OTBFashions is just the beginning of what Out Of The Box Fashion has to offer!

I am so thankful for my social media, and blog followers, who have supported me from day one! My goal is to provide personally hand-picked styles that are both timeless and affordable. Think of me as your personal stylist. Remember, fashion is everything, but style is how you express yourself!

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been challenging having a blog and starting an online store. One, I am not a tech-savvy person and started out with very little funds I was unable to pay for setting up my website and store. I always say it’s important to always be kind and treat people how you want to be treated. I feel having this quality as blessed be in meeting people who were willing to help me with branding, and designing my website. Some of my other struggles were finding vendors to purchase clothing from, and there was no one who was willing to help. But, through business relationships with the Americasmart, and meeting people through the Atlanta Fashion Bloggers, I was able to connect with vendors. I also had a fear of failing and doing all of this alone. I wanted a partner so bad! But, once I realized I could do it on my own, I simply moved forward through my fears. I still have a long way to go, but at least I say I am going!

My advice to other women and particularly young women is to “go for it”! If you feel it in your heart do it, no matter what anyone says, or tell you. Listen to your heart, and be bold! Go for your dreams, and believe in yourself.

Sometimes we feel we need a people around to cheer us on but learn to encourage yourself because there will be days when you will feel alone. Don’t let those days get the best of you and cause you to quick! Stay focus, pray and take on your challenges. Whatever you inspired to do, study it, read all information about it, network with like-minded people, but never give up!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with out of the box fashion – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a fulltime blogger and now an online store owner. I also a wardrobe stylist and personal shopper. I partnered with Omar Kinnebrew of O.S.K. STYLES Custom Clothing & Shoes, styling clients. I am also the Co-Coordinator of the Atlanta Fashion Bloggers alone with Founder/Organizer Tondaleya Shamley! We are a group of Atlanta Bloggers who participate as a media source for fashion events around the Atlanta area! We have covered events for Sheen Magazine “Kimmie Awards” and the Americasmart. We also host a bloggers review providing helpful information on starting a blog. As well as maintaining it. I am very proud of these accomplishments! It has kept me on my toes with social media marketing, organizing events, and skills with speaking to an audience.

What sets me apart from most bloggers, is I am real! I follow no one rules but my own when it comes to style. I am not your typical blogger who works with brands, just to get paid. I believe in working with a brand I truly like and use. I am affiliated with retailers I shop personally! I blog to sincerely help and empower women through fashion and style. I want them to step outside the box, and be who they truly are. Stop following the same on trends and try something new! Be a trendsetter, and also treat yourself by loving yourself. There is nothing wrong with buying a new dress or pair of shoes sometimes. Do what makes you happy.

What will set me apart as a wardrobe stylist and online store owner? I personally help with picking styles that you will feel comfortable in. I will get you to step outside the box, but it won’t be too far out there. Lol, I am also a people person. I love people! I approach my clients as if I am their friend that they can count on. The service I give, you will want to come back for more! I am good at what I do, and I am able to teach a person how to shop, organize, and styled up their look from day to day.

Who have you been inspired by?
Definitely Oprah! I would watch Oprah every day as a young mother, and what stood out to me the most is to “Do What You Love”. It took me a long time to get to that point, but its true there is a time for everything, and that there is no order to how your life is supposed to go. Whoopi is another woman who has inspired my life. I love her energy and the knowledge she has, and how she uses her knowledge to educate and to help others. I finally, my MOM Christine Brown. She has always inspired me to do whatever I like! She wasn’t like most moms, she would listen to how I felt and would talk to me about my feelings and my thoughts. I love her for that! She always allowed me to express myself rather it was through dying my hair blue or wearing awkward clothes. She never put down any of my ideas, no matter how crazy or unreal they seem. Even to this day, my mom gives me so much support, and I know she prays for me every day.
