Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Limb.
Rose, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It was an exciting but also exhausting start for me. I must have given my mannequin head about 50 sets of lash extensions before I took it out on my family members, only the women, of course.
I started posting pictures on Instagram to see if any of my followers would bite. It worked! Soon, I was doing house calls all over Georgia. I would drive from Dallas to Buckhead to Smyrna… just to build a clientele.
After months of driving and lashing, I found out I was pregnant with my 3rd son. I didn’t want to stop lashing. I love lashing! But I didn’t want to drive all over town and load and unload my lash bed, lamp, and my supplies with a big belly.
“If you build it, they will come.”
Yes. I turned my dining room into a lash studio! Now, my clients come to me and it’s been amazing so far. Since it’s in my home, my hours are flexible and it’s convenient for my busy clients.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was a struggle growing my confidence in my work in the beginning. I would do a set and love it or hate. I would go to bed thinking I should pursue something else but I was surrounded by so many friends and family who were encouraging and selfless when it came to letting me practice on them.
My advice for young women who are starting their journey on their small business is to just keep practicing your skills and focusing on the big picture. Your work will speak for itself. Surround yourself with ambitious and positive thinking women who motivate you and encourage you to never give up.
Please tell us about Lashes by Rose.
I am a classic lash extension artist.
I gain new clients mostly from referrals. My clients are my walking advertisements.
They come to me for my natural looking lash extensions and also my dramatic ones. I cater to everyone differently because not all women have the same eyes and desires when it comes to length and thickness.
I listen to what they want and expect for their lashes. And I also listen to their problems at home and rants about work. I’m their confidant who hooks up their lashes.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Be humble and hustle hard.
Be grateful for any business that comes your way but stay hungry and always hustle to get your way.
