Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharita Austin.
Sharita, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Well, I was born and raised in Valdosta Ga., where I spent all of my life. From a child up until now, I have always had a heart and passion for people. I think that comes from my upbringing. I come from a very hospitable family so being a “people’s person” comes naturally. I worked extremely hard in school to maintain good grades and worked part-time as well learning the value of business and money at an early age. Upon graduating, I attended college and graduated with an Associate’s of Science in Behavioral Science. I later returned to college and attained a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Anthropology. Upon graduation, I started a career in Social Services as Case Manager for DFCS. I loved working with children and families, to know that you are saving life’s and building families was heartwarming for me. In addition to having a heart for people, I always a had heart for ministry, makeup, and fashion and somehow the three worked for hand in hand.
While working at DFCS, my county was in charge of sponsoring a few young ladies for prom and of course I volunteered to assist. I knew with the caliber of girls that were there several of them battled insecurities and low self-esteem. I originally was helping with dress selection and got drafted to makeup. Of course, I thought I did a pretty decent job on myself but not well enough for others. However, in the midst of transforming the girls, I found myself encouraging them and loving on them in an unusual way. Once I was done and they saw themselves in the mirror, they were blown away. You could see their confidence and self-esteem rise immediately. To know something as simple as makeup and making a young lady feel beautiful touched my heart. From that day on, I would practice doing different makeup looks on myself and my sister. I would watch YouTube videos and research techniques, skills and traits to sharpen my gift. After that, when I picked up a brush it just flowed. I started out volunteering my services to those who were less fortunate or those who needed a small boost in their confidence by knowing they were beautiful.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Ha! It has definitely not been a smooth road. I faced many struggles. My parents divorced when I was around 6 or 7 which was very hard for my siblings and I especially considering we were daddy’s girls. Although we still had a relationship with my father, him not being in the home was a struggle and with my mom being the sole custodian she was considered a single parent. My mom worked extremely hard to provide for my siblings and I so as a token of appreciation and to lighten the load, I start working at a very early age to help with expenses and other things we needed. I worked very hard in school to made good grades to make her proud and I refused to settle for mediocre. I knew I had dreams and goals and I never stopped believing in those dreams and goals just because life was a little more challenging than others.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
My advice to other women is to never give up. I know it sounds cliché, but it’s what I know to be true. There will be days that you want to give up and throw in the towel. There will be days that you don’t see fruit or results from your work, but you must have discipline and a desire to succeed and conquer every obstacle and goal. Be comfortable being you and know that there are an audience and a people waiting on your gift who will support you as well.

Well, in essence, I’m a beauty enhancer and specialize in enhancing one’s beauty on the inside and outside. After several years of perfecting my craft, in the Fall of 2016, I launched Adore Beaute’, a business and brand created to enhance, encourage, and inspire women of all color and walks of life to “adore” their inner beauty just as well as their outer beauty. I believe that we are all fearfully and wonderfully made beautiful in the image of God. Sometimes, we just reminder. I specialize in transformations that enhance, encourage, and inspire. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and when you feel good on the inside it shows on the outside with your appearance and how you carry yourself.
What I’m proud of most as a brand and service provider are the relationships and responses women give after receiving services. There are no words to describe the feeling of knowing you are helping women feel good about themselves, loving themselves, and adoring their beauty inside and out.
What sets me apart from others is my passion, heart, and personality. I love what I do and it doesn’t feel like work. I never just have “clients” and I’m always building relationships with all those I service. I literally “Adore” them all just as God adores me.
Who have you been inspired by?
My mom, my aunts, my sisters, several of my teachers, my spiritual mother and mentors.
They are all determined women who work hard. They have shown me strength, tenacity, perseverance and that anything is possible. They are my support system and always encourage me to keep striving.
