Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Belcher.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always had a crazy love for candles. I love how a candle smell and the feeling it brings. During the beginning of the “lockdown”, I had tons of free time on my hands and wanted to create another stream of revenue. I have always been creative and one night, I watched videos on YouTube on how to make candles. I remember staying up all night so intrigued on the process. The next morning, a light bulb went off in my head and boom- I made up my mind, I was going to start my own business. I took what I had left in my savings account and ran over the local craft stores to grab supplies. I went back home and tore up my kitchen where I created some amazing smelling candles. I was so impressed with myself. I promoted them on Facebook at first and gained a lot of positive feedback! At that point, I knew I could do it. I then created a website and set up shop. I started my business Essentially Yours Candles back in 2020 and we have really taken off. I have received a large amount of support and I thank every single person that has purchased candles from me. I have now added wax melts to my candle shop and I will be dropping a merchandise line very soon. I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Whew! It has not been a smooth road. The challenges and hurdles have been motivation for me. Starting a business in the middle of a pandemic was stressful, but I pushed through. Growing is growing, no matter how small!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am Taylor Belcher the CEO of Essentially Yours Candles and I create handmade soy candles. I am proud of every single sale I have made. It’s the support for me. I have had support from family, friends and strangers. Every sale means the most to me. I pour my heart into every single candle I make and every candle is personalized for my clients.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I appreciate the unconditional support I have had from my husband, Angelo. He has had my back since day one. He has supported the process and has believed in me. I’ve had good days and bad days, but he always pushed me to the finish line. He created a work space and office and helped with the production of my candles all the way down to helping me getting them shipped. He is the G.O.A.T! (greatest of all time)
