Life & Work with Alex Inez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Inez.

Alex Inez

Alex, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was raised from a creative family and started making my own music at age 17. I started dropping my original songs on SoundCloud and then to streaming platforms, and now I am studying film and media to be able to better visually represent my visions and ideas. I use my love for arts & crafts to further set myself apart from the bunch. My love for handmade clothing and accessories push me to be creative even when there’s no song on my heart.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing worth having is a smooth road. Every up comes with its downs, and I have been super blessed to be able to travel and move around growing up, meet new people, and spread my music and art around. The downside to moving around is that I don’t really feel connected to anyone hometown. I feel like each city I lived in brought me lessons, new families, and support systems. With that, I sometimes feel a sense of loneliness with only a few friends that have known me through each phase.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a multidisciplinary artist with focus in songwriting, photography, film, and textiles. All which began out of necessity from being a musical artist. What sets me apart is my personal drive and willingness to collaborate. I’m most proud of my dedication to learning new things.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why.
What matters most to me is being authentic and loving myself through every obstacle. We often forget to give ourselves grace when we need it most. Take time for yourself! Encourage yourself and trust in your intuition.
