Life & Work with Alyse Benchia-Reilly of Los Angeles, California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyse Benchia-Reilly.

Alyse , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?

I started making jewelry for myself and loved ones as a way to uplift. Just like clothes, jewelry is a way to shift your mood from down and out to up and bright!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

I would say that there has been a challenge at every corner. Making jewelry nor the business itself would be considered easy or smooth. You have to enjoy seeing a problem and figuring out the best way to get where you are trying to go.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I chose jewelry as my creative outlet. I needed to see an idea that is in my head or the customer’s head come to a concrete formation. I do a lot of custom work but problem-solving is where I thrive. Right now I have a patent pending on a clasp called Golden Girl that helps organize chains that you’re wearing anywhere on the body. That way they’re not all tangled up, having you spend an eternity trying to dissect them with a safety pin. Also, there are so many people that need to keep important medication on them at all times. For that I created the Bunny Locket. I put a lip on both sides of the inside to not only help hold the medication, but also for those that would like to keep a precious photo extra close to them. I had a problem and I figured out how to solve it for myself and others. I couldn’t be more proud.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
To me, happiness is being in control of your own destiny. Being able to make choices every day of what works for me is the best thing that I could ever imagine.
