Today we’d like to introduce you to Amyra Crystale.
Hi Amyra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with a strong love for all things beauty and fashion. My Professional Beauty journey began in October 2014. I stopped going to a 4-year college institution to take a step back and figure out what exactly I wanted to do with my life, I enrolled in a beauty school in the fall of 2014 mainly because I wanted to learn the ways of the trade for personal upkeep and maintenance only. Little did I know this was the beginning of my beauty and lash artist career.
I graduated from Empire Beauty school In July of 2015 and passed my state boards on my first test attempt. Thrilled with this accomplishment I dived into the hair industry.
Throughout my journey, I would do lashes on my peers, family members, friends, etc. with applying lash strips and the individual lashes. I found more joy with doing that than I did when I completed a blowout. I quickly realized my niche was doing eyelashes.
I did more research on eyelash extensions and decided I wanted to make it into a career. I applied for a part-time position at a chain lash studio where my lash career truly started with doing eyelash extensions. After one year I progressed and began working for a more trendy lash studio as a junior lash artist. Both in and out of the studio I practiced and adjusted to this new level of beauty and lash industry I was now introduced too.
After some time at that studio, AFFIRMATIONS BEAUTY BAR LLC was birthed in June 2020. I spent a lot of time consistently lashing clients, and personally invested into lash courses in both group settings and one on ones. I have now expanded my brand with my own eyelash strip line and lash extension tray line as well as beauty tools and accessories for both consumers and lash artists. To have my own brand and business is a dream come true and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for my future!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running my own business, especially during a pandemic and inflation within our economy has not been smooth sailing. As an entrepreneur, you have to ride the waves while remaining consistent and passionate. If you put the passion in the forefront you can better stay on track and in love with your brand through tough times.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed cosmetologist who specializes in esthetician services. I am a Lash artist who performs eyelash services, eyebrow and skin services to all. I am known for my professionalism, homey and comfortable work environment as well as my affirmations posted daily.
What sets me apart is my lashing style and the originality of my lash brand. Every lash artist applies extensions differently and has their own unique touches they add to each full set and fill. I also post daily affirmations to encourage and inspire women of all ages, races, sizes, etc.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was an only child who was extremely outgoing and fashionable. I was the kid who would scream at the top of her lungs and rearrange her room with new decorations each week to express her creativity. As a young child, I began traveling and seeing different parts of the world which helped shape my creativity.
