Today we’d like to introduce you to Andre Bridges
Hi Andre, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began my journey as a rapper, in the Washington D.C area. I moved to Atlanta,Ga in hopes to making big as a rap artist. I quickly realized i needed a studio to work from. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford one, and my cousin had his own studio and said I could use his but his engineer seemed to always busy. This situation inspired me to take matters into my own hands and pursue a career in audio engineering. By going to school, I aimed to gain the skills needed to create and produce my own music.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was definitely not a smooth road. After graduating from school, I was promised a job working for Ludacris. However, he already had an engineer who was preparing to leave for LA, which meant I had to learn everything that school couldn’t teach me, and I had to learn it in real time. I had to quickly master recording at a fast pace, mixing songs down, creating innovative effects, managing files, and understanding proper studio etiquette. It was an intense learning curve, but it pushed me to grow and adapt rapidly in a high-pressure environment.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I began my career as an aspiring artist, and my passion for music naturally led me to explore audio and sound engineering. Working with Ludacris. This transition allowed me to develop my skills further and eventually grow into a songwriter and producer. Over the years, I worked diligently to build my name in the music industry. My efforts paid off when I was offered the role of Production Manager for R&B and Afro beats artist ROTIMI. Today, I manage up-and-coming R&B sensation Queenie.
I specialize in helping artists create and release high-quality music. My keen sense of hearing, often regarded as one of the best in the industry, sets me apart. I can detect nuances that others might miss, allowing me to transform ideas into fully realized musical pieces.
I am most proud of the longevity I’ve achieved in such a fickle industry. My ability to hear things that others can’t and turn those ideas into reality is what truly distinguishes me from others.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice to artists aspiring to join the music industry is to hone your craft diligently. Treat it like a 9-5 job and invest time and effort into it every day. Study the industry as if it were a college course; this way, no one can steer you wrong. One thing I wish I knew when I started out is that knowledge is half the battle. Never be afraid to ask questions—seeking guidance and learning from others is crucial for growth.
