Life & Work with Andrea Sadler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Sadler.

Hi Andrea, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my podcast journey due to an argument I had with my child’s father. I always contemplated on starting one but was never in the mental space to do so until I had that argument with him. Now there has been plenty of arguments but something about that one on that particular day made me press record.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. Lol. I am currently recording my second season of my podcast and it is now visual. My first season was all audio and it was a lot easier than visual. My first season started a lot of controversy as some episodes, I told what I like to say is my truth on certain situations. Sometimes I would record in the heat of the moment and then drop and that episode would get a lot of streams because of what I was saying. There has been so many “Oh, did you hear her podcast?” conversations that it sometimes made me not want to record. I’ve met a lot of people in this journey. A fellow podcaster created an event called “March to the Records Book” which was a 48-hour live stream to break the Guinness World Record of the longest streaming podcast. It was such a dope experience and I cannot wait to do it again however, I’ve met so many creative people and I indirectly compared myself to them which caused me to have a creative block and I didn’t record for about 2 to 3 weeks because I overthought everything I recorded. The biggest struggle is me overthinking and not wanting my podcast to be the same as others and sometimes that can get the best of me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently work in the public school system with individuals for special needs. This has been something I’ve been doing for many years now. I feel like my specialty is listening when others don’t feel heard, a lot of people come to me just to talk because I let them and give my opinion or “2 cents” after one has spoken. I am most proud of the fact that I am currently in college, averaging a 4.0 GPA. Never in a million years would I have thought that would be me. I’m a regular person. Nothing sets me apart from others but I hope my fashion sense can stick out lol.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I honestly can’t think of anything that would surprise people other than me actually being a social butterfly as opposed to the introverted antisocial person I’ve been and still can be. In this podcast life, it’s very hard to not be social. In order to build connections you must build relationships and that is something that requires being a social individual.
